i found where the knob goes, but not what it is supposed to do.
If you hang the lantern in the house with the trunk, (on the hook over the fireplace) and then put the wine in the lantern, a comb-looking thing will fall out, which I'm assuming is the code for the gate.

Dino- fill the bottle with alcohol from the barrel by the scene where you used the crab.
Put the sundial at 1 o'clock and keep clicking on that lever on the post.
Dino...in the house where you used the crab...the first room you walk in...the wine cask near the bucket. You can put wine in the wine bottle.

The comb is indeed the password for the gate.
there are the same number of teeth on the comb as bars on the gate. I am trying to work it out.

hmm. i'm clicking the sundial in all directions and pulling lever. gone around many times, and nothing. not even at 1'oclock position...
Henrique, try rope fishing off of the pier. I clicked for a long time untill I got it. Make sure you at the view looking out over the water.
wow. i went around at least 4 times on the sundial. clicking the lever multiple times each before something dropped.
FINALLY got the key from the sundial. Took forever and a lot of clicking but I got it! OUT!

to those having fishing problems, i only tried 3-4 times to catch the crab with the rope. i believe the final try was between the two docks, but near the end of them. and slightly closer to the right dock. don't know if position matters, but seems so since i got mine right away.
sorry, was gone for a second. I didn't want anyone to think i just bopped out without helping! Thanks to you guys, I wouldn't be out anyway. Anyone need help?

I just kept alternating clicks on the knob and the switch untill it droped the key.
Jusme, keep clicking it into each position and click the lever. Click to the next position and click the lever. etc. Someone said they had to do it 4 times! I think I went around twice.... hope this helps
In the house with the atrium, the pill bottle was on the ground to the left. Probably just like the shoe polish, not used for anything.

I got through the gate following the comb except that the first is really the short stick. I realize I was suppose to use only the stick that come out of the comb.

Silly me!! I was just taking a quick peek, as I had to get back to work, so didnt look very hard.....I managed to navigate around. Didnt find the shoe polish....I did get out.

CRAB ! (for those who are clicking like mad, my crab was near the middle of the screen, a bit right, between two pontoons).

I came very too late after you in the game, I've use crab for shiny thing (key), and run to open something. (Hello Myrie and Mishna, I'm sorry to be unable to help you).
ahh got the wheel??, it fell out of the sundial..
I had to click each hour on that dial on top all around at least three times and at the same time that I clicked each hour I click the lever in front of the post too..

the 3-digit code (for the chest)is under the rug in one of the rooms in that same cabin. it is 173..
that chest gives you the dial (knob) for the post that is a sundial...
The number changes for the chest....could be 723 ...look by the window under the rug

Grenadine, you need to go to the house with the chest. The first room has a hook above the fireplace. Put lantern on and then fill from bottle (you did fill it with wine?)
