Islands in the Stream Walkthrough by tosca:
Take the mesh out of sofa, the two enveloppes, take knife from corner carpet and look at the booktitles.
Open enveloppes by pointing the point of the knife to the middle edge.
Left.Take the fishrod and use knife 3 times on it.
Left.From veritasbox take mirror and card.Look at the card.
Use knife on pillow toget key. Look at painting to see purple roman 4.
Use knife on rightunder corner of picture with seasight.
Take gun. Click corner of rug to see yellow 3.
Left. Take wood. Use knife on wood. Open right cupboard with key and take pliers and little ring (hard to see). Use knife on plantpot and get key for left cupboard. Take hammerhead and piece of paper.
Use this piece of paper with the one on the desk.
Look at the names, they are all Hemingway characters in his books. Google to know wich charactere played in witch book.
If you know the titles of books, you can click these books IN ORDER of the paper and a secret closet underneath will open. Take scroll and iron.

Stick from fishrod goes togheter with hammerhead.
Hook,little ring and wire makes key for door left of grammophone. Kitchen
Use gun on right horn to get flag.
Go to the kitchen and open cupboard with hammer. Take sugar and big glass. See pink 5. Use hammer in the free space right of the 5 and get key.
Open big cupboard with key.
Take green botlle (RED wine), little glas, orange bottle (BROWN fluid), green bottle (GREEN fluid).
Matches on table. Use knife on icebucquet and take ice.
Take red and grey fish.
With big glass , take some ice. Take chair.
To the fireplace.
Put the wood in the fireplace, the paper and set on fire with matches.
Take coal from fire with pliers and put coal on iron. Iron the mesh.
Hold scroll in fire until it gets deep brown. Look at it and see you can change the pictures on it.
Red fish to cat and get blue paper.
With this paper :
To get the clue for the balcony you have to look at the symbols on the back of the picture. Then, using the clue on the blue paper, rotate the symbols in the second column 90 degrees clockwise. After you have rotated you have to mentally place the second column over the first. Ignore the diagonal lines (i think they are just for orientation). Then, if two lines cover the same area they cancel each other out and reach it as if there were no line there. If only one line is there keep it. This should give you the five numbers you need reading from top to bottom.
Exemples : 62574, 25609, 37018, 30652, 34735
Go to patio and put the sigar on fire, put the big glass with ice on table.
See lightgreen 2.
Take the grey paper and right the pink paper.
Click the box and there is a name on it to complete :
exemple Martha - Gellhorn
Capital letters is necessary.
Pauline - Pfeiffer
Hadley - Richardson. Write only Richardson in the box.Take the beach key.
Take lime and lemon.
When the sigar is finished, take the ashtray.
When the ice is mùelted, take the glass with water.
Go to the beach.
Put chair behind sunchair. Look in the tree, find red 1, lokk higher in tree (scroll if necessary) and find second part of pink paper. Put them togheter and descrypt code. (wwill give it later)
Look at book : brown 6 and 16.45 hour.
Put that hour in the clock next bed, go back and have picture with the position where you have to dig with knife to find next puzzle. Do that.
While you are back on the beach, there are some mintleaves on the tree, above chair.
Under the chair is a sudoku puzzle. Jeesz.

I dont know if it the same for everyone.
Now go to the watchtower painting and with the pliers remove it. Ingredients.
Now with the grey paper with holes in it compare the sudokapuzzle with the ingredients :

Now do the scroll puzzle, make the right ingrediënt next to the right letter. If correct you cannot change the scroll any more.

Now fill your small glass with these ingrediënts. Put it on the kitchentable and done you should see a dark green 9 on the glass.
Put the ash from the ashtray in bin anlook at ashtray = grey8
On teh beach do the puzzle on chest
1-red from tree
2-light green from balcony
3-yellow from floor
4-purple from picture
5-pink from cupboard in the kitchen
6-brown from book
7-orange from bookshelf
8-grey from ashtray
9-dark green
Get flags on put them on top of mast on boat.
Now the pink paper with the flag code gives you the colourcode of the flags :

Red
Green
Yellow
Brown
Cyan
Take frame and put it on the antler. place mirror on it. Put the picture from the kichen on the nail above grammophone.
You see now morsecode in the mirror on antler.
Code is 438
Put this code in chest on beach and you get the of the boat.
Put key on boat and you are off.

Clidfan, you have to draw the first shape, turn 90 degrees clockwise the second shape and connect it to the first, and finally eliminate the lines that overlap, you'll get a number.
Where is the iron ?
i had martha and i put in "gellhorn" when i backed out it was open and there was a key in there. working on the puzzle at the beach now.

there are two envelopes, Andrea. Try both of them. Pick the knife and place it on the envelope in the inventory, or viceversa, dont remember
I just used the knife on the two envelopes in the inventory.

you can flip the mesh around four different ways. If you look carefully there are three little lines on the mesh. Each time you click on it in your inventory they change location (i.e. the mesh is rotating).
nvm, used the knife. i put all the numbers according to the colors but nothing happens...
on the tree where we put the chair there's the other half of the pink note found in balcony. Once together it shows code. Dont know how to decipher it. Also, behind the chair, there's a paper with another letters puzzle

I am very late, as usual. I have got : 2 enveloppes, an iron, a photo with drawings on the other side, a blue rectangle, a rifle, a list of characters (used), nippers, a scroll, a knife (used twice), a fishing rod, a ring, a hammer.
I tried to set the clock at 1:00 (like on the picture), but it does nothing. I don't know how to use the hammer and the iron. I don't understand the puzzle above the clock.

Ok I was using the right bottles. Don't take that automatically popping back into inventory as gospel. It's possible I accidentally tapped. Certainly it won't do it again,(though it may only do it 1st time??). I can't think of anything better than using HEMINGWAY for order, but the drink still looks disgusting.

Me too, dayamayii. I have tried some of the recepies, but they did not work. Does that mean, we all have to do the sudoku? I am working on it for a while because I am very bad at these.
I'm really stuck. Can't find any pink bits of paper, up the palm tree or anywhere - can't find any mint - no idea how to get out whatever is in the sand - no idea what the iron is for, won't let me iron the parchment, even when I heat it with a burning ember.
And yes, dyamayii, I agree the music is terrible and just keeps going round and round, but if you click 'sound' top right, it shuts up.
Please, what to do with the iron, can't seem to get it hot.

What's with the grey note from the "Veritas" box?
For those of you who don't want to go through the trouble of solving your sudoku for yourselves, go to www.godoku.com . They have a godoku (sudoku with letters instead of numbers) solver.
Don't know if this is relevant in this game, but 'Veritas' means 'truth.' Just a thought.
and of course i'm stuck with everyone else re the dark green number & the box in the sand. how could i forget that!

THe mesh was used to get the morse code which translated to 672 (at least mine did-dont' know if everyone's will be the same or not).
Still looking for dark green and and who knows if my drink is correct or not.
To see the number in the ashtray you have to dump the ashes in the bucket and then click on the ashtray.
@carri light the sigar in the ashtray, go back in the house and than go out again and take the ashtray. empty it to the trashcan in the kitchen. than u'll get the grey #

Alimax, I can't really follow how to get the morse code. I've tried to iron the mesh then put it up, but it's way too hazy to read anything off other than three lines.

dayamayii, you have to hang up the picture on the nail above the gramophone. Then hand the mesh so that the three lines are in the upper left hand corner of the window. Leave it there and go look at the back of the picture again. Use the light from the mesh and the drawings on the back of the picture to get three lines of morse code.
make sure the three lines are in the upper LH corner of the window and then look at the shadow on the opposite wall (record table)
How did you translate the morse code Alimax?

Alright, even with Brad's clarification, I still can't seem to get the ice and glass on the patio figured out. I have held the tumbler on the ice bucket, released, walked to the patio, set it down. Left, came back...and nothing.
Some of you sound like you've picked up the ice. (carri said she had a block of ice). Should I be able to do that, and why can't I?
@lexiana did you use the knife on the ice block first? do that and than you can take ice and use the glass on the ice bucket
lexiana I believe this is how i did it. Use the knife on the block of ice in bucket. Take some ice. Then use the tumbler over the broken ice in the bucket. YOu should see ice in it. Place the glass of ice outside on the table. Leave and come back to it for water.
lexiana, you have to do two things with the ice. to get ice in your inventory you have to cut the ice in the bucket with the knife (was tricky finding the spot), then pick some up. To get water in the tumbler, you put the tumbler on the ice (I did it after cutting it up) and you see ice in it. Take it out to the balcony, set it down, go inside then back out and it's filled with water.

the trick with the ice, is that you have to put the tip of the knife over the ice, not actually the mouse pointer
of course not. Why would any of us know what is going on in this game! i don't even know why i start these games. They are always torture.

Carrie, use the "tip" of the knife not curser. Place tip on edge on envelope to unseal. Kinda tricky.
Hi tangoboy. Yes just enter the time from the book into the clock. That picture tells you where to dig with the knife. and unless you have managed to find a dark green number i'm afraid you will be stuck with the rest of us!

When preparing a mojito, lime juice is added to sugar (or syrup) and mint leaves. The mixture is then gently mashed with a muddler. The mint leaves should only be bruised to release the essential oils and should not be shredded.[5] Then rum is added and the mixture is briefly stirred to dissolve the sugar and to lift the mint sprigs up from the bottom for better presentation. Finally, the drink is topped with ice cubes and sparkling water, and mint leaves and lime wedges are used to garnish the glass.[6]
