The window panes have marked corners. The filled-in white ones point to the next pane. Follow them like arrows, and mimic that pattern on the circles on the cabinet

The paper came out of the left drawer of the table under the window.
the shapes on the note correspond to the picture, except the picture is not playing cards, it's the letters of the alphabet. That's why the Jack is next to the King, cuz J is next to K.
@Michelle, you get the key to get in that drawer from the upclose view of the window at the bottom right-get it with the ruler.
Got 2nd battery now, but still nowhere to use them
Okay, so I'm in the basement or whatever. I figured out the clue on the little table, except...there's nothing there. I click the wall above the table in the spot corresponding to the X, and there's nothing. I do it with the hammer, I do it without...nothing.

lol nvm found a candle instead :D hammered a hole in the wall after moving the flower
Forgot to mention, make sure you hit the brick you picked up from the fireplace with the hammer too. It gives you a knob that you use in the basement.
There is a compartment on the wall above the table in the spot corresponding to the X. Not sure if I used my hammer or not.

Alright. This is frustrating. I know I can move the ladder with the switch above the little table. But then I can't do anything. I have what appears to be a lightbulb? It says it's a key, but I don't buy that...
The switch in the basement closes the trapdoor, so you can't get back up. I have no idea what to do with the chair.
Thanks, Kingman! The switch MOVES THE LADDER, and I hadn't noticed. I thought it was just closing the hatch, and that's why I couldn't go back up
Ruler is on left side of fireplace under numbers. Use ruler to get thing stuck in window. Panes in window are key to the 16 dots on top of cabinet. This unlocks cabinet where you'll find a battery and another puzzle. Piece of paper and the cards I think solve this new puzzle but I haven't cracked it yet.
this hammering pixel-y places in the wall is getting really frustrating...

use candle or matches (cant remember) on the 'cards painting', then use pick axe. get ladder. use that on clock.

after batteries in clock, go back down, look in the cabinet. its a brick wall now. you can use pick axe to get through.

Dan, tell me what you've done in the basement so far. You'll get the key to the upstairs drawer, and a key to the basement cabinet. I can't remember what order, so tell me what you've already done
Deadman, when you have the hammer, go downstairs, look at the small table for the clue. On the same wall, hit the wall with the hammer where the X says. Use the candle to see a key and a switch. Don't hit the switch yet. The key is for the drawer upstair to get the second battery.
zilifool: I got the lightbulb, and I got the pickaxe. I went upstairs and got the ladder, and put one battery in the clock.
What else is there? Am I missing something to click on?

All I have is candle left. Light bulb in one of the masks and two lights on the opposite wall.
On the top of the mask you have a switch but it only go left, middle or right. I don't know how to lower them.

However, now that the clock is displaying 3:00...I am once again stuck without a clue.

There is also a switch on the right side of the mask with the light bulb. Both switches need to be in the central position. Go to the other mask get a compass. Where else have you seen that shape before. >>>> The chair. Take note of where the arrow points and with direction the arrow is moving. Should be simple from there.
when you lined up the eyes use the token gained in seat hole... will give you safe combo and a key

Great escape game! On the safe dial, I totally forgot to go back to straight up. Did it several times before I remembered. I clicked all over that mask a billion times, but not able to find the switches without help. Thanks everyone for your assistance!

@Michelle... On the thing upstairs that's like a cabinet, click the top of it. It should have a 4 x 4 thing with white circles. When you click them, they turn gray. Click on them in this order as Carrielyn said above:

I must really be dense tonight... *sigh* I have opened the cabinet, solved the alphabet box, have matches *used to burn pic*...lol!, have 1 battery, 1 brick and #'s from fireplace...I can't find the hammer and I can't figure out those #'s...the way they are written it looks like I am supposed to divide but.... would someone please help me escape the vicious circle my mind is caught in...lol!!!! how do I use fireplace #'s and where do I find the elusive hammer.....GAH!

After doung what Sue told, try to go down to the basement, but you won't be able to go any further (should I say downer instead?). Go back to the fireplace and find the hammer where fire was burning.

Irish, good to see you too! Have you lit the fire? Use matches on memo, then light the logs. Then you can click there to get the hammer, and the numbers will be more revealing.

where to get the two keys in the basement, for the right drawer?
WALKTHROUGH - Part One
Main Room
Zoom fireplace, take brick from right side
Zoom left of fireplace, take ruler from bottom
Zoom window, notice the differences of the corners of the glass panes
Zoom bottom right of window, and use ruler to get key
Use key on left-side drawer to get note
Zoom top of cabinet to see dots. You need to find the order to press them.
HINT: look closely at the window panes. (Answer below)
Once cabinet is opened, get battery from left, and see codebox on right.
The codebox wants the letters corresponding to circle, square, triangle, x. The clue for this is on your note, and the answer is found on the picture on the wall.
HINT: the codebox is answered with letters, so what would they correspond to on the picture if the letters J (for Jack) K (for King) and Q (for Queen) are already placed. (Answer below)
Open codebox to get matches.
Use matches on note, then set logs on fire with flaming note.
Zoom left of fireplace to see numbers. The fire has darkened some numbers, so use what you're left with to find the answer for the codebox on top of the desk.
HINT: do a little light division. (Answer below)
The codebox opened a hatch to the basement. But you need light to go downstairs.
Check the fireplace again, and open the box where the fire was to get hammer.
Move flower vase, and use hammer behind it to get candle.
Use matches on candle, and you can now go downstairs.
WALKTHROUGH - Part Two
Downstairs
Use hammer on brick to get knob.
Use knob on picture, then click keyhole to get lightbulb.
Looking at table, it shows the wall with the picture, the wall with the cabinet, and the wall with the table. The X marks where there is a hidden compartment.
Use your hammer to hit the wall where the X marks, above and slightly to the left of the table. (If you draw a line straight up from the back left corner of the table, you should find it about 3/4 of the way up the wall)
Use your candle to see inside. You'll get a silver key and you can flip a switch. The switch moves the ladder.
Now that ladder is moved, use your hammer to the left of it, near the 2nd & 3rd rungs from the bottom. You'll get a pickaxe.
Use silver key on cabinet to get a gold key, and note the time 15:00.
Move ladder back to go upstairs again.
Main Room
Use gold key on right-side desk drawer to get another battery.
Use matches on playing card picture, then pickaxe to get step ladder.
Use step ladder under to right of fireplace, click clock and insert batteries.
Downstairs
Use pickaxe inside 15:00 cabinet to enter the next room.
There are 2 masks on opposite walls. One of them can lift up, and you can place the lightbulb.
Once the eyes are lit, click just above the top of the head to see a dial. This directs the light from the eyes to the opposite wall, and you can move it and turn around to check. There is also a dial on the right of the mask. Click to the right of the right eye, away from the mask to find it. This dial moves the lights up and down on the opposite wall. You need to make them line up with the other mask's eyes.

Once the other mask's eyes are lit, get the compass from its mouth.
In the other room, place the compass on the chair.
Watch the animation to get the answer for the dial on the vault door. You can click it again as many times as you need to memorize it. Also get the vault key from behind the chair.
Turn the vault knob to open the keyhole. (Answer below)
Use your key, back up and open vault to get gold and door key.
Take your key back upstairs, and use it to exit.

Dots on Cabinet
There are four rows of four dots. The window has four rows of four panes. When looking at the window panes, the colored-in white corners each point to another pane. If you start at the top left, as indicated next to the dots, each pane points to the next one in a different order. This is the order to push the dots on the cabinet.

If the top line ends in J (for Jack), K (for King), then the top line is I, J, K.

The numbers to the left of the fireplace (after you've lit the fire) will give you the 3 digits you need. You have 10 divided by 2, 24 divided by 3, and 8 divided by 4. Translate these to roman numerals.

Turn both the top dial and the right dial to the middle position to line up the eyes on the opposite wall.
Vault Knob
Turn the dial to point East, SouthWest, East, West, North.

this is bull. i know the IMNO thing. what the f does that have to do with anything. i have nothign to do with the IMNO clue. and the roman numeral box doesnt work with 582 v vIII II.
