There is a knife on top of the cupboard
got the knive - cut the sofa - put the 2 clues together - dont know what to do with pc screen or thingy in sofa

Get the paper from the dustbin and the one from the book, combine them and put the right shapes into the PC. It will give you the clue.
Its damn fiddly though
Aaah yes, you can;t see the clue if the light isn't switched on.

They are fun though, especially when you have only a minute or two before you gotta go get supper started :)
It's kind of buggy. I solved the strings (the correct options were darker) before I got the clue but the box didn't open so I went hunting for other clues.

I found that if I mess with the computer screen before finding the two clues for it, it bugs.
Clomp, your advice about the darker strings were an excelent observation. I looked at the pic on the screen, THOUGHT I put the strings according to the pic although one string was lighter, nothing happened. tried doing the ALL DARKER strings and appearantly the string I THOUGHT looked one way it actually went another according to the shade, which got the desired response. thanks for the help, it was much appreciated.
Bug? when I click on the yellowish orangish book on the book shelf - it appears closed but when I click on it to open it -- it disappears. I am guessing that is where the numbers are to open the cupboard. I got the string thing open and have a key to something.
Not Bug! I don't know what the book is supposed to do, but the key opens a safe behind the picture above the window and there are the numbers to open the cupboard to get the key to open the door to escape.

The book gives you the second paper clue which has to be combined with the clue from the dustbin before the PC clue (with light on) works.
Gathe games won't allow you to brute force. You have to have the clue
