it seems nice game but problem with language

I agree @kapnias

giving it a go

so far I have a magnet and a book that looks like it teaches how to draw a face

total language problem

tried using magnet all over, no luck

tried throwing book at bird, no luck

wish I could read what the book in the puddle says...

or anything else for that matter!

giving up on this one until someone translate

@Swissmiss, I was just about to post the same thing

I think I know what that toy cow on the couch means. Paunch, omasum, abomasum etc. that's just an excerpt of the 7 (?) maws ("stomachs") a cow has.

And something I know for sure as well: walls sometimes may have ears

(LOL)

all i hav is magnet ....

FWIW, opposite that azure-blue door, on the floor there is a dirty spot with a "thing". Could be something from a child, maybe a textbook (??)

Ah, now finally that "how to draw a face" booklet makes sense to me!
The book cover reads てるてるぼうず (teruterubozu). This is another interesting part of Japanese culture: it's a special kind of doll made from paper or cloth that Japanese people may pray to so that the weather get fine.

the book "how to draw a face" is the solution for the drawer with arrows

SPOILER

rdmrldl

and hi @all =)

but now I'm stuck with that "doll" and the raven above the ear don't want to give me the key...

we can look behind that ear-picture... but nothing to do so far... the magnet does nothing...

I'm so superstuck...

oh... there's a hole under the doll... not that it helps... but... there's a hole...

Many crows above cb, might be R & L clue for door ?

I'm thinking the same @Purple... but I get nowhere

I'll give up... I tried to draw so many things with this green lights at the door... beepbeepbeep... no progress in this game... and all left the sinking ship... the language barrier is to much for me...

hmm...that "hole" inside the teruterubozu looks very spiral...almost like a screw thread!...but I might be wrong...

There is a button on the toy cow. I have tried clicking the parts in the order food travels thru a cows tummy, but not working YET

no... I thought the same @arbeitslooser... maybe we have to find a stick to screw in there... (OMG, what am I talking about?) and then scare the crow with the doll on that stick and the key is falling down...
only thinking...

I will have to come back to this one after someone is able to translate, too much of language barrier for me

Think I have to post again in order not to confuse people too much!
It was me who told about the various maws a cow has, but that might be a bad approach.
It might rather be about a cow *USED* for food, i. e. human-edible parts of it.

The word on the very left is カルビ (KARUBI) which means something like "beef ribs". Maybe we have to sort cow's parts for food quality. (e. g. in a pig, the feet/claws have very low quality over e. g. the ribs)

get stick by changing all lights off except 4 horizontal next to door opening for each side and the connecting verticals to form a rectangle that resembles the bottom picture on the door.

       Anonymous  3/26/12, 10:50 AM

put stick on box next to green square, slide left and then take it out again, now can screw it into the weird little doll

thanks @Kirby... I tried so long to make the pattern like the doorknobs...
and now I screwed the stick under the doll, like I thought... but the crow doesn't fear it... no key...

       Anonymous  3/26/12, 10:53 AM

still cant make the bird give up the key though

thanks Kirby, but I seem to do something wrong...

I just tried to make a rectangle right in the center (or more exactly, a square even) but nothing happened. Anyone give me a hand, please.

@arbeitslooser: only the 4 horizontal left and right from the middle of the door... and then the vertical beside

Make the middle of the door green in that shape (except the top lined up right)

I also tried the left and right clue of the birds at the beaks in the blue box... nothing :(

       Anonymous  3/26/12, 11:02 AM

like 3 rows of 2 small boxes

POP got it (finally!!) Rectangle on center is just right; but just the outline won't do. You also have to make horizontal lines INSIDE that rectangle.
So the result looks a bit like 2 pitchforks held against each other :) (with the points meeting each other)

birds from right to left: LLRLLLRLRR

beat the gong, scares bird who drops key behind ear. Key gives knife, cut cow for id card which is used at door and then I'm stuck

Hi Philomena, stuck with a hanging magnet
a swipe card with a clue on it and need to find the order to press the seven buttons in door box.

you and me both lol!

back of the id card shows W(up arrow) NS (down arrow) Don't know what this means

Were all the other players on the same bus
and went into a tunnel ...

To get stuck so close, sucks

guess it was too tough for me after all. giving up now.

Im Thinking W=West N=Nort and so on but not sur how to solve even withthe hanging Compuse

yes, yes, it do...

Does it help if I let you know that you can determine the direction (N S W E) where you are in the room?

For that, do ABOUT ITEM of the magnet and then press the red big jap letters. This will "live-use" the magnet, so that it shows you the direction when you enter a room.

hanging compass? Damn, Unknown just beat me to it. That sucks (LOL)

Looking up when facing west = nothing!
Looking down when the magnet showes NS
you get the puddle view, so maybe a coffee
will help, I'll make two cups lol

I agree but then the arrows Make no sence

The bus came out of the tunnel, Woo Hoo

For final code, I'm thinking
up and down are up and down views
U = 10 (or 11) crows (do you count the one that flew away)
D = 2 (back of the book on floor)
blue door = 14 (picture)
but other walls I'm not sure what to count
And we don't know which direction is north
(tried doing about item on magnet in several views, but it didn't change)

No another tunnel, cya later

Cut string for doll and attach to magnet!

About item in a view, then click the red box

drum is south, blue is east (not so good for my theory), ear is south, couch is west

Sorry, drum is north

OUCHHH!! Maybe I should have said that you need the magnet attached to the string when doing About item?

(Admittedly, I thought everyone had it that way. Unknown definitely did because he was referring to a "hanging compass" so I know he was on the right track. :))

Ya still stuck there Just lookin in all the rooms that back o card says still nothing. Hate giving up so close

Oh, I see arbeitslooser posted the magnet trick.
so W=7? for "cuts" on cow?
up = 10 or 11 ravens
N = 4 or 6 triangles (red and yellow)
S = 1 ear
down = 2?

Lots of ifs, and how to convert to the 7 buttons

I agree. W*arrow_up*NS*arrow_down* really makes not much sense.

pushing buttons
#7, #1 2x, #6, #1, #2 didn't work

There are 2 views that make no scence to me West veiw top of couch and est veiw poster not sure if missing somthing there

Also tried as if buttons were labelled R to L (as in the bird clue)

Friends, we might be totally on the wrong track!

In Japanese blogs, I can not only read that the end part is extremely difficult (makes sense) but also 音階 (onkai) which means musical scale.

So we might have to think of something musical.
I know there's a song about the teruterubozu dolls, but I DOUBT we have to play the 7 keys like on a piano, because each key gives the very same sound!

@arbeitslooser -- maybe that's where the baseball picture comes in! (Japanese equivalent of "Take me out to the ball game"?)
slogan "ド真ん中", I think (using nciku) translates as Middle!! (strike?)

Hell yeah! Now that you're pointing me to it...let's follow that trace! Thanks ...

...however...hang on, what if the "middle" thing simply refers to the rectangle of the "miniature neon-lights puzzle" which had to be built in the center?

But then, why the magnet and the directional clue?
I think I'm going to have to wait for a spoiler if it comes down to "if you don't know Japanese song, this is very difficult".

'Open panel and see 2 yellow triangles
Pull out drawer for drum
'
How? I cant see how explicit that part is. Thanks.

@Edgar: Look at the birds peckers and use them as a clue for the left/right arrows. Go from right to left (the arrow above shows the direction).
This literally was the only thing I figured out by myself in this darn game, lol

@Edgar: Use the stick on the gray panel on the wall by the drawers. The stick will move to the left and then you can open the panel. The yellow triangles are left and right buttons.

Hey, still nobody solved this one?
OK, so if my translator got it right from Japanese, that bizarrely-shaped hotspot above the sofa (follow middle seam up to upper edge of back rest) is not there by pure luck, but has a meaning.

P.S. Jap blog also says that there are seemingly 2 endings!
(if only we found one, lol!)

Gatamari Stuck-Through (corrected)
I've included solutions and spoilers in-line (for as far as I could get)
click left option, then top option to start game

Look down to see school workbook
Turn over and see "小2" (also "メアリー" (Mary))
See poster that says slogan "ド真ん中!!" (Middle!!)
up from ear is crow with key
Up from green panel are 10 crows

Take magnet from middle gray drawer
Take blue book from under couch (left)
This book shows step-by-step how to draw a face

Perhaps using hint from schoolbook and poster, open cupboard next to ear
(Turn them all to brown except those either side of the center. Shape will look like 目 (eye))
push button, then push right symbol to open for STICK

open top gray drawer using hints from blue book for DOLL
L M R
..D
(L & R are the eyes, M the nose, D the mouth)
SPOILRDMRLDLER

Turn doll over to see screw threads
Place stick in hole on gray panel and move left
Remove stick and see it now has threads
Combine stick with doll
Open panel and see 2 yellow triangles
Match these with the birds above to open green panel
(hint, arrow is right to left)
SPOILllrlllrlrrER
Pull out drawer for drum
Use doll as drumhead to beat drum (hear clink)

bird has flown, dropping key
Pick up key behind picture

Use key to open bottom gray drawer for KNIFE
Use knife on doll to get STRING (takes a few clicks)
Attach string to magnet, do about item, and click red box
You may not know how to get out, but now you know which direction you're facing!

Use knife on cow/pig button for ID CARD
Turn card over to see white strip
Place card in panel next to door to open panel
Remove card and turn over to see a clue (W-up-N-S-down)

Combine everything you have (magnet, card clue, knowledge of Japanese songs, etc.)
to open panel next to door. This may give you a key to exit, as there's only 1 slot left in inventory.
If you succeed, please post the solution.

Thanks @Edgar for catching my error!
So, @arbeitslooser, no spoilers from your Japanese blogs?

big language barrier for me too so have to check Japanese blog and got the information
continue Pca's WT
from the card and magnet we got these
W (ソファ)sofa
上(ソラ)sky or empty
N (ドラ)drum?
S (ミミ)ear
下(シミ)stain
from the poster hint we know ド(do) in the middle so we have to rearrange the piano keyboard order
ソラシドレミファ so/ra/shi/do/re/mi/fa
combine these two hints we got the keypad order
1712426636

another end
after you crack the pw of keypad [you hear a sound]dont open the door yet
check the crow over sofa and the key drop; use magnet to get black key behind the sofa
use key to door
car ending

Thanks Shuchun!

BTW Puzzled to your question about spoilers...NO ! There are lots of spoilers but the translations hardly make sense. Japanese is really one of the most difficult languages to translate into another.
(just check a rough translation into English in Wikipedia, you're almost supposed to rewrite the article from scratch!)

Thanks silverfish & jbg for helping me. I should have read more in the WT instead of deciding I didn't want to get spoiled, LOL.
@PuzzledinCA, I realized it was not a big mistake but one of those usual 'copied-pasted on the wrong place' minor issue.
@Shuchun... WOW! I know you had to cheat somewhere, but still! The most I could think about it on my own was the sofa and the mimi (ear). Would have never solved it without your help!

Neither would I. Totally weird stuff.

BUT...come to think of it...having made music myself many years, it actually IS fully logical.

We have:

do - re - mi - fa - so - la - si (or: ti) - do

The Japanese have:

do - re - mi - fa - so - RA - SHI - do

L and R in Japanese is regarded the same thing, so we have the transition LA~~RA.

The other, SI~~SHI may just have been emerging itself due to national (language) preferences, so like a Polish woman would use Dombrowska in the US or elsewhere, she would call herself natively Dąbrowska in Poland but not use the a-ogonek in the US due to charset and pronunciation difficulties.

P.S. In case you wonder about all that talk about Polish: well, the SH in Japanese SHI is the very same sound the Polish use for ś. (like in śmierć (death)) This 'sh' sound is unknown in English.

Thanks.. Out now..

@Shuchun -- Thanks for finding the solution!
I think even if I knew Japanese, I would have struggled to pick the right words for each scene! (even knowing it's a musical scale -- in English I might have guessed Sol-Fa for sofa -- but that would have been about it.

@arbeitslooser -- thanks for sticking through this game with me and for the language lessons!

LOL Puzzled, be my guest ;)

By the way, I still owe you a *logical* explanation why despite scouring a handful of Japanese blogs I only get a tiny bit of valuable information.

The reason is the ◯ , the "maru" as the Japs call it. It can mean "correct", or OK, or even "the something", "the thingamajig" (used to avoid spoiling too much in game comments). In current version, Google Translate is UNABLE to properly translate Jap sentences that contain one or, as usual, many ◯'s. It will just hack every sentence to bits and that's it. Only thing you CAN do is filter out the marus, but this does not necessarily transmit you the speaker's intention.
