I am puzzled ... the signs on the wall
I used gardening tool near sea ... but when I put in the signs, nothing happens. Wrong order?
did you save Swiss??
Use the tool on the floor, view with the sea.
So far I've got the gardening thing, hay, the mirror, a picture of a shine, a triangle rock, a shell, a stick, and a bunch of clues.
click on shell, you see a sort of map.
Order for symbols are X - Triangle - Circle (clockwise)

@ZA, Starting from the cave 'mouth' and clockwise, I entered those symbols and it opened for me. Got board and the second part of the grid clue.

Used both clues (in shell and in hole) to solve the 4x4 grid. Got a 'bookmark' (?)
Alright, i used the talisman on the mirror and now the ghost is gone.
The talisman (or bookmark as I first called it) is used on the mirror when facing the sea.
There's a piece of plywood in the hole as well. Use that to pry up the big rock the the golden ball. click it to flip it and put in the triangle rock. Now i'm stuck...
Made some fire and lit the candles.
Put the candles on sticks on altar.
Well, that's one way to do it. (SPOILERS for help)
take back the plywood, put in the pole, add the hay, click to make fire. then light the candles.
And the ghost was a boy with a pail? I guess he died in that cave or something...
Well, i'm out. Pretty fun. ^^

I cannot get the grid - can someone please help with that.
I do see both clues but my brain isn't working
there are 3 endings
- killed by ghost
- escape by hole in the wall
- do the ritual and escape by cave entry
@misscpants,
the clue in the shell is the bottom right of the whole 4x4 grid.
The clue in the hole would be the top left part of that 4x4 grid.
Combining them together you should get something like this:

Have I been left on my own?? Have done most of it i think... not sure what pattern I have to do on the 4 blocks on the floor (after lighting candles, putting pink star shape thing in...etc)

you must get talisman, and then look in the mirror, then you'll have pattern for floor
Thanks @ Jed, I have used the talisman already and can't look at it again... the things I have left (still usable) mirror, bit of paper with the ritual clue, stick making fire and pink shell (have done the grid on the wall)
I did the mirror/talisman thing and the ghost is gone. I made the fire first before I moved the big rock, so now I can't move the rock, but I put the lit candles on the "altar" and got a pink star-shaped thing. Now I don't know what to do...
@JoC - you need to open the mirror and click on it and the pattern should appear. I'm not sure it does though unless you are in the right place - think I was in the sea scene when it appeared.
pop - I didn't realize I could click on the flaming board to get it back - out!

I got as far as lighting and putting the candles...
Had a the mirror, colorful bag/purse, a shell, and the firemaker still active in inventory....
Had been saving all along...decided to answer O/yes on going outside.....the game did not save! grrrrr.....
Maybe someone will do a WT? Otherwise I see no point in going back in because the mirror comments don't make sense to me.....
@Nokra. go to the scene with the sea. about item mirror, then highlight the book mark looking thing and click the center of the mirror. Then the above hints should work.
I escaped the cave but it looks like the shell would not go into the water??? Is there a 4th and better ending?
Well, there must be LOTS of endings. I did not get the "pink star-shaped thing" as Zoe described it, but I can now see a heavy stone slab with a carving in which that star thing would fit into.
I just don't know how to get it though...
