Ancient Asylum is a new adventure created by Selfdefiant. For your final history project you decided to explore the ancient asylum on the outskirts of town to learn about the asylums strange past. Your best friend was too scared to go with you so you headed to the asylum all alone. It is said that the place is haunted and that a bank robber stashed their loot somewhere inside the asylum. Crystal actually costs 75 orbs.
crank is used in one of the very first rooms. There is a whole in a wall.
I repeat my earlier comment LOL You can draw freehand on the map squares so number them then make notes to the left...

woohoo out! I 'numbered' the map starting in the lower left with A and going from left to right, then up a row and continuing to 'EE' if anyone wants help!

got silver key from the dark corner of a room on right top of the map.
for once I used my brain :) alphabetical order of the colours Casual.

I just noticed, could the color order be the word on window (growpy) and not the alphabetical order?! I mean alphabet worked, but it seems this should be the right order...
Yea..silver key after red key is used....forget directions, because I went through some familiar rooms to get there....still need to find 15 orbs!
There is some kind of big crate or chest behind the door opened by the gold key (is in an attic ?), but there is no hotspot on this crate/chest. And BTW, I'm missing some gems, as usual (I have orange, yellow, red and white gems).

nope, growpy is used for something else. besides, there is seven gems and only 6 letters.

ok so I'm not coloured blind yet! Orange gem is in far left room second row from the bottom. I believe stuck in a cupboard.

Something got lost in transmission - this game is messed up. I tried using a printed out version of the map and that helped some.
I found a green key but no green door!

For me, the red dot was never in the place I was supposed to be...and sometimes the rooms that should be locked were open...but...made it a bit more of a challenge!!! lolol Loved it!
I remember the sd being in middle of map, 4 spaces up from bottom...but since the rooms aren't numbered and map never showed me where I really was...I could be steering you wrong...
If you start from all the way left, go right 4 spaces, then up 4 spaces it should be on a ledge somewhere!
SD was on the ledge above the X clue. Same room as the Green gem.
How about red door? Anyone?

I have the crystal ball .... I also have a green key! There is NO green door.
I have 6 gems: orange, yellow, red, purple, white, and green.
I assume the wooden rectangle that does not open in the gold door room is where the gems go.

all the way to the left has the jammed door of what looks like lockers. I think the orange gem was there. That is as far left as you can go. I can go down which puts me in the shop.
the green door is in for the fourth room from the starting point.

If you start from all the way left, go right 1 space, go up 2 spaces and go left on space and you see the x color hint, see the window up the hint and we are founded the screwdriver.

pdgph, there are 7 gems, 6 symbols. you are missing the purple gem. You can find that in the bottom right room in the coloured slider puzzle.
4th room from the right is the room where the bolt that used the handle is.
4th room from the starting point is where the colored lever puzzle was.
4th room to the right (starting from left) is the starting point.
I am lost and frustrated and running out of time.
I think I have to give this one a pass.
4red3s, if you are in the room with the coloured lever puzzle then you have made it through the green door. you are missing the blue gem which is in the symbols puzzle which from the coloured level puzzle is one room left, 3 rooms up and 1 room left.
There is NO GREEN DOOR. I have the crystal ball and can get into every single room on the crazy map. I have even "walked" through every room with out using the map or crystal ball. Still NO GREEN DOOR.

@4red... so sorry... when you are in the start screen.. the green door is all the way RIGHT- but if you go up 1 and over again to the right- it leads you the same way if you unlocked the green door
Then you have a glitch in your game. I got into the Green Door room through a glitch in the map from the room one left and one up from that room, maybe you did the same thing and that is why you got into that room. But it was a green door at one point.
i think the silver door is after you unlocked the purple door-- keep going up

Made it out -- with the green key. I thought we would get out through the "door locked by some strange force." But I just took the loot and it was over.
Well that was interesting! Even with crazy maps and keys -- Self Defiant -- you are the best!
Wish I had time to play it again.

c@ke - the gold key is in the cupboard in the top left room.
niknik, the blue jem is located in the box where you have to enter the symbols in the correct order. If you are at the starting screen, go 3 screens left, 3 screens up, and one left. You need the red key to get through

I've been everywhere that I can several times, and cannot find the orb holder....HELP anyone, I am seriously stuck!

- It took 25 orbs to buy the map, not 15 (but crystal only cost me 50)

use either the crowbar from 2 rooms above the shop or the screwdriver from the room above that one.
orb jar = one room left from the green eye symbol which is one room above the shoe in the corridor

Where Things Are
To get map, you have to accumulate orbs.
Orb jar: From start go right 3x, up, left (Thanks @nokra)
Orb store: from start, go left 3x, then down
(Price was posted as 15 orbs for map, but I needed 25)

Additional hints:
if you have trouble finding orbs, try using the lantern, even in lighted rooms.
Most puzzles are pretty logical, and you don't have many tools.
For levers, alphabetize the colors of the symbols.
Clue for colored levers is the GROWPY graffiti
Crystal is not necessary, but doesn't hurt your score. Once you have it, it's hard to draw on the map.
hmmm, I am so battling with this game! I cannot purchase the map, because I am 1 orb short. There is definitely only 4 orbs in the room with the crank in my game. :(

Well this was a boring game. SD-games used to be my favourites, but I actually fell asleep in the middle of playing this one. And what's the point of not numbering the rooms on the map? It doesn't make the game more fun or more difficult to play. It's just annoying.
@Rachel, when I first played the game I only found 134 orbs. While replaying to write the WT, I started finding orbs I had missed and eventually realized the pattern.

Nice game, the only thing I didn't like was the order of the symbols as colors alphabetically, because I had to think the color names in english, and as a no native english speaker that was a twist too much for me, especially because there was, as far as I can see, no hint for it.
All I need now is the orange gem, but I can't open the stuck box with either the crowbar or the screwdriver. I even tried lighting it with the lantern first! What am I doing wrong?
