oh no it says 'sorry this game needs Japanese knowledge."
going to start it anyways
got the (x,y) grid 3 digit code (quite simple)
but I think I need to be able to read the clue card for one of the codes.
don't understand the third one that says O N E
ok, was over thinking the O N E clue...rather simple
have no idea for the last code... no idea what the hint is telling me
one is - one nine eight - i suppose !
Hi E-Addict!
any thoughts on the middle code?
I think I am done until I can get a translation
i think the note is clear enough ! not the least jap knowledge so i'm out ! good luck jo ann !
same here E-Addict
I even googles the symbols for Japanese numbers hoping it would be that simple.. but no
Again, I know that I am the one who doesn't speak other languages and that is my own fault, but I still wish game makers would allow us to copy and paste so we can attempt however crudely to translate
exactly !
so I guess I have gone as far as I can
will check back later to see if anyone succeeded in the third code
I translated the bottom of the middle one.
I think the clue at the bottom says
"Note: music symbol" or "Note: music note number"
Here's the kanji for the note:
音楽記号
spoil it puzzledin ! :D
5 lights by door and only 3 puzzles?
Go right first for clues to puzzles on right and left. (I went left and first and didn't see the clue for awhile.)
Going to look up Jap music symbols now
btw, I've been having trouble using nciku, but found this alternate site for entering characters:
http://kanji.sljfaq.org/draw.html
Read the link on correct order and direction
I think the Japanese is Hiragana but the
only translation I found was
a, so, tu, ti, na, sa!
So that went well.
Figured out the +1 puzzle. As mentioned by PuzzledinCA, a music symbol is involved: a Crescendo which means gradual increase in volume. But since our solution involves numbers, will have to twist the idea a little.
Since there's a +1 written, guess it is logical to say that the gradual increase would be +1 as well. Then we will have +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6. Now we add up with the hiraganas above, but how? Here is where the knowledge of Gojuon (50 sounds) comes in.
For example, take the first hiragana あ (A). Add 1 to it, we refer to the next hiragana, which is い (I). Then そ (So), +2 so refer to the second hiragana after it, which is ち (Chi). Combine these two we get いち (Ichi) = 1.
Do the same for the rest, and you will get the 3 number code.
No luck -- I think on another game someone posted the equivalents.
The phonetic equivalents seem to be:
ah so tsu chi na chi
The +1 in the hiragana tables might give
ka to nu ni ha ni
maybe you go backwards (per the symbols) to
ni-ha-ne-nu-to-ka
But I'm really out on a limb and not sure I'm even on the right branch, let alone the right tree!
Ah, Thank you @Shunko Kuda -- wrong branch for sure!
I was going the wrong direction on the kana tables
will see if I can finish this using your clue!
Well if the first number was 1
the other two took a little BFing.
SPOILER.................

As most have noticed, we need five answers, but only three panels. So one or two of them has multiple answers.
Found another answer for the ONE panel. The clue? Don't think too hard, and don't refer to the initials table.
so tsu +3 is na?
Well, I got it but only by looking at the Japanese digits with more than one syllable and brute-forcing:
6=roku
7=shichi
8=hachi
I got "na-na" and "ha-nu" for the other 2 digits :(
@Puzzled: Yes, you are on the right track now. =)
And as most have noticed, we need five answers, but only three panels. So two of them will have two answers.
One of them is at the ONE panel. This time, don't refer to the initials table.
The other one is found in the x/y table. Notice some way to "draw" out an asnwer?
"Sa"+6 is not "Nu" though, but close. =P
Well, the T-syllables comes after S-syllables, so you overshot a little, frankly speaking.
And if the creator has it in mind, San (three) is also considered a two-syllable number. Doesn't matter now though. =d
Got the 1 under the ONE sign...
As for the last box under x,y graph,
just trace a path through the numbers.
And Game Over !
how morgan?
spoilers for codes please i dont do jap
how did you get the one under one?
@rds, It's just 1
Well 001 to be exact.
i agree aitch
ty morgan, i thought i tried that but i guess not
There was only one Japanese code
the rest are straight forward enough.
And the second time you use the box
under the x,y chart, think of drawing a line
(1,1) to (1,3) is a line down
(1,3) to (3,3) is a line to the right
(3,3) to (3,1) is a line up
(3,1) to (3,5) is a long line down
This gives the number 4
(Drawing this on paper is better)
lmao at straight forward enough yeah if u good at maths, better clues to help others not as good would have been helpful
Sorry guys -- had to leave for a little.
Brilliant on last 2 puzzles, @Morgan!
I actually thought of trying "001" at first, then thought "it's never that easy and besides, puzzle-makers never use zero at the beginning!" lol
Thanks for your help, @Shunko Kuda Still wonder how nana = 3 (baby talk?)
Weird ending.
Scary cook with blue-stripe eyes!
Ok, I'll try to summarize the solutions -- give me a bit.

KAMO ESCAPE 2 -- Part 1
How to solve, not the answers
Start of game:
See that you need to solve 5 puzzles to escape
If you look around the room, you will see there only 3 entry boxes for your five answers.
The boxes light from bottom to top, regardless of the order you solve them
Go right to see 2 posters on the wall
Poster #1
>Numbers = first letter of English names in red
Poster #2
See a chart and a set of clues
See that (x,y) means (column,row)
For each line of clues gives five squares
Get two answers:
ANSWER 1
Take the letters of the points
They spell three digits (Hint: what numbers have 5 letters?)
ANSWER 2
"Draw" lines connecting the points (similar to old Sakura games)
Enter these two numbers in the box below
Go right
Poster #3 is entirely in Japanese
I'll cover this separately
Go right again
Poster #4 merely says "ONE" in red
ANSWER 3
The value named in the poster
ANSWER 4
Remember Poster #1 and the red letters?
The numbers starting with those letters
@shaz, that wasn't math,
this is math....
What is the sum of the coefficients of
( [3x - 3x^2 +1]^744 ) x ( [- 3x + 3x^2 +1]^745 ) ??
;)
KAMO ESCAPE 2 -- Japanese puzzle
To solve this one without knowing Japanese (but maybe learning a little along the way), you need a few tools
1. A table of Japanese Hiragana characters
Often these have lots of extra variations that
Here's a chart of the basics needed
http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2047.html
The characters are numbered as follows
First row is 1-5, next row is 6-10, etc.
2. You also need to find the Japanese number names
http://www.sf.airnet.ne.jp/~ts/language/number/japanese.html
(I finally found "nana" -- other sources say seven is shichi)
First step is finding the characters in the chart
Characters on the chart
first is row 1 column 1 (#1) =a/ah
second is row 3 column 3 (#15) =so
third is row 4 column 3 (#18) = tsu
fourth is row 4 columns 2 (#17) = chi
fifth is row 5 column 1 (#21) = na
sixth is row 3 columns 1 (#11) = sa
Next, look at the blue hints
You have +1 and a crescendo sign
In music this means getting louder, here it means getting larger
So to add /count forwards from the given characters
Done correctly this gives you
1+1 = #2 = i
15+2 = #17 = chi
18+3 = #21 = na
17+4 = #21 = na
21+5 = #26 = ha
11+6 = #17 = chi
Look these up in the list of numbers
Again, thanks to Shunko Kuda for solving and explaining this.
I hope that by giving the sources and part of the solution will help others ...
@shaz -- as with other things, practice is the best way to get better
I recently read that a difference between Asian and European cultures is they view math as a skill to be learned, not an talent you are "born" with.
After all Family Biz is over I’d just like to say...
I spent over five hours dropping in and out on this game
to escape.
Anyway just to say, to anyone new, this WT site...
EG24 - no one will be left behind, ever.
@Morgan: I'd say the sum is 2 but I might be wrong. :)
@Puzzled: Thank you for the detailed WT. Can never explain it that good myself. =)
Trivia time: From one to ten in Japanese, three of them have two ways of reading, depending on the word it is linked to. Four - shi/yon; seven - nana/shichi; nine - kyu/ku.
Story: Earmuff and ?? were trapped in a room with a statue that grants wishes, and they needed to escape. (This is where we start to play. Will omit their dialogues when you're clicking somewhere because of meaningless conversation, and ?? mostly talk about eating.)
With all answers entered, the statue's eyes lighted up, and started to talk in old language (like old English, "thou" "thy" and the likes). It asked for their wishes, but they were to express in their head, by image (picturing in mind). The statue granted their wishes, and with a flash...a person was teleported into the room.
Apparently she's a housewife ?? meet often at a convinience store. After some explanation, the housewife requested for an escape. Annoyed by the statue, she gave it a stare of rage, and the statue immediately warped them out, intimidated.
They got teleported to the housewife's home, and her deliquent son was in, speaking harshly to the "intruders". Housewife insisted that they have a meal before leaving, then left to prepare the food.
With three of them left, the son started to have a "conversation" with them. Earmuff felt awkward, but ?? was just happy because he get to eat.
@Shunko Kuda -- thanks for the story (as strange as the ending pictures)
I don't think my explanation was better than yours. For some puzzles, it helps to have 2 or 3 explanations from different points of view
Thanks especially for the more than one word for the numbers. Since that's the case, why don't they BOTH show up on lists of number names? Something else to be puzzled about ... lol
