There's a boat way on the left which needs a key

I have shovel (can't find where to use it!), 3 crosses, carrot, 1 penguin and a key (not the one for house)... and can't seem to do much more. Have put ribbon, candle, balls and lights on xmas tree
Can someone point me to the shovel? I seem to be stuck without it.
@ Nini... I have just placed the 1 penguin I have next to the big bush/ tree in front of house. So guessing they both go there lol
Oh the shovel seems to have arrived in my inventory - not sure if it was after placing the crosses. If anyone else is suffering my frustrations, note the star has to be placed before the crosses wil stick!
Oh bizarre. All of a sudden I actually 'found' the shovel in a scene - and it was already in my inventory.
There are two hot spots, I think, in the line of trees behind the first screen house. They look alike, but in one I found the shovel and in the other I found where to dig. Very confusing.
Oh pooh. I can't place my penguins anywhere, I can't place my 'serial lights' etc. at all, can't light my candle, have a key and no keyhole (doesn;t work in the boat) and I keep being revisited by the ghost of a carrot and of a shovel. I give up.
The lady takes the ribbon first, then the lights or ornaments. Take one of the candles in the house that is already lit. Put the unlit candle under the tree to the left and light it with the lit candle. Penguins go in front of the BIG tree in the foreground in front of the house. NOT up by the house.

Glad I found that out myself, so I thought I'd tell everything. This game is much too much trial-and-error crap anyhow.

One penguine is in the water after you zoom from the very first scene (the water where the house that you can't go into is). Throw a branch from a tree into the water to get him. The other penguine is in the dirt to the left of the house in the same scene. Put them into the second scene (where you can enter the house) in front of the big tree - zoom in and the penguine's have a duel with their candy canes

Found penguin in water but cant find the other. Can anyone tell me where to get it?
Thing have to be done in a certain order or they don't work. ie. You can't dig in front of the house until you give the rabbit the carrot.
Good Gosh!!! I kept trying to use things ON the present and stocking that had their own scene...and all I had to do was click it to get the stuff out! GRRRR clicking fingers worn out!!! LOL
AND!!! You have to place candle and light it before the stuff goes on the tree!!!!!

POP frikken POP!!! Place the penguins in front of the giant tree left of house, they fight with their candy canes..and a rabbit appears ...LMBO!
He hops to the spot where you use the shovel..get a box , open with the key, get a sock, it gives you the key for the 3 crosses box....get a bible.....
Man reads it, a fairy comes and uses her wand on the tree and a key drops down.....LOL!!!!!!

Nevermind, found it. Out finally. No reason or clues to dig where we had to.. Not a big fan of this one.

I would have given up in frustration had I not seen the hints here re the 2nd box AND needing to place & light the candle BEFORE you can decorate the tree ( AND the rabbit AND .... ) argh. Now if I could just figure out what to do with the Bible without cheating :)
