Some hints:

SPOILERALERT!!!

Oil under cushion. Look at oil!! After opening l-r box, look in the lid of the box! Use this hint for the three numbers. Now do as the book tells, you'll get three letters. Then look at the bear and you'll be out soon.

the number clue was either number of letters from each clue on lid or from side of shapes on wall cant remember need more coffee

The number clue is number of sides on frames.

The number clue is from the pictures but not in the order that they are in. The lavender oil gives the left/right clue

Well, escapism has already given it all away!

ORDER for drawer with code is found inside LID of box.
(bird, flower etc.)

Then you will know with which picture to start.
NOW check out which shapes the frames have.

Ergo: you need BOTH. Shapes only will make the game solvable, but you'll need to bruteforce all combinations of SHAPE1_corners, SHAPE2_corners, SHAPE3_corners! :)
