Am I that slow on a Friday morning? I cannot get the second and third puzzles, though I am trying the obvious!
It seems a mistake has been made with the star puzzle. the first number isn't the number it should be according to the hints (as far as I know).. the rest is and should be obvious as you say
I had to brute force the third code, has anyone an explanation?
@stacey, for the 2nd puzzle, the numbers are key!
Second one is using the numbers (as click order) on the LRC etc.
Thrid puzzle has a mistake I think. The XII is wrong.
XII should be II^
I think we've started the weekend too early, Stacey. Common sense solutions don't seem to work.
Shouldn't the middle puzzle be LCRRCR?
That's what I'm entering, VK, but it isn't working for me. I don't see any other solution.
vkacademy,
The hint is
LRCCRR
The 1 is far left and the 2 far right, so start with LR and go on with using that method of using the numbers as order.
Oh, I see. Thanks, s-t.
Thanks s-t.
oh s-t... yes Skip and I were indeed doing it wrong
Someone made out the third puzzle? The right answer is 729 but I can't see how it comes. Don't believe that they just made some mistake.
For the 3rd one,
X1 back to front becomes 1X =9 11
stays the same back to front 11 =2
X11 back to front becomes 11X which is not a roman numeral, its should be V111
although the answer is 7 I don't know how to work that one out?
As ever, rows of numbers as a clue can be done one of two ways. Here we have LRCCRR, and the number 136542. The first way of deciphering this is to say that the first number=the first letter (L) - so far so obvious! Then take the next number along - in this case 3 - and choose the third letter in the sequence, which is C. Then take the next number - 6 - and the sixth letter, and so on. The second method is this: number one is in the first position, so use the first letter (just the same as the first method in this example). Now, here is where it differs - look for the number 2 in the sequence, and see it is in last position. That equates with the letter R. Then look for the number 3 and that corresponds with letter R - and so it goes on. If the first method doesn't work, try the second! Hope this helps.
I agree
Easy except last puzzle
Cannot relate to the star
Found the 7 by accident as i scroilled throughnumbers once I had 2 ad 9
I still can't get the L/R puzzle. I've used LRRCRC and LRCCRR and neither work. It's been too frustrating a day for me. I'm done.
Maggie - your first one was slightly off - 1=L, 2=R, 3=R, 4=R, 5=C, 6=C.
LRCCRR
136542
