That sounds *rather* grim... though I guess we don't have to rush to "rescue" him, then.
Stuck with a board and 1/2 a round clue.
Got it use the board on the pots at the bottom of scene with crowns.

This escape managed to work a lynching and marijuana tokens in the same game. Don't see that everyday.

Chapter 17.
The continuing saga of Jolly Boy and his friends James and Janice.
A few chapters ago Jolly was playing a big role in a big stageplay. But he didn’t audition for the part he’s playing right now!
Poor Jolly, what went on in the developers’ mind to put him in such a terrible position.
But the developer knows, that after 16 chapters, Jolly has two good friends who will not let him down. And he’s just curious to see how James and Janice will help Jolly out!
“We have to move carefully, James, those two vikings are fierce-looking.”
Janice is a bit worried.
“You’re right, let’s first go all to the right!”
James signals Jolly that he has to stay where he is, help is on its way.
Deep down in the castle they look around.
“Look James, a sponge at the wall, and a wooden board in the back.”
“Did you find a number already, Janice?” James sees the place for it on a pillar.
“Nope, not yet, there are more puzzles, see? In the back, those six dots.”
“Yep, we need an order for that one!”
“And look, at the left, we need to find five colours!”
“Lol, Janice, and did you look at the bag? A crown’s in there.”
Ah, the game is on, they are finding all sorts of things.
They walk on to the left.
“What’s that with the candelabra on the pillar?” Janice looks puzzled. They differ in height …
“I don’t know,” James answers, “but four crowns go below it! And we need a key or something for that chest.”
“Wow, see those jars?! One is hollow, let’s use the wood on it.”
BANG ! James finds another crown.
“We need to count three colours …” Janice looks at the red, pink and purple at the wall.
Nothing more to find here, they’re going outside.
“The flowers!” James starts counting and writes it down in his notebook.
Janice carefully approaches the woodpecker and “YES! Gotcha!”
“Well do …..” Bam! James stumbles over a blue medallion on the ground.
While James rubs his knee, Janice finds a slider puzzle on the stone.
It looks familiar, but she’s not sure what to do with it.
“Three medallions go on the wall, James, and here, at the right of the gate … heights? What …”
“I know! The candelabra.” James gets up and sets the dots on three, two and one.
They find a third crown!
Oh, this is so encouraging!
Now James and Janice carefully move around Jolly and his guards.
“Flowers, count them” Janice whispers. James nods and writes it down.
“Janice, over here …” James finds the compass-clue at the gate for the slider puzzle on the stone.
They can’t hold the woodpecker in the inventory, he sees the large tree and wants to dig a hole!
“The number!” They cry out.
Still behind the back of the guards, Janice uses the sponge to clean the stone.
What’s that for? James writes it down, but has no idea either.
They withdraw themselves and Janice sets slider puzzle as the compass-clue shows.
A pearly eye drops in the inventory.
Inside the castle James does the flower-math and …
“a paper ??”
“Yes”, Janice remembers, “that’s half of what we need for that dot-puzzle.”
“Let’s put in the number now.” James walks up to the pillar and mumbles “8..9..6…2.”
The key for the chest!
“Oh, lol, of course! A bag of gold!” James takes the bag out of the inventory and opens it.
“Yay! The last crown!”
Now things develop fast.
Janice places the crowns on the pillar and glues the two pieces of paper together.
James quickly runs to the dots on the pillar and clicks them in that order.
“A second medallion, Janice!”
“But now what??”
They are a bit unsure about what to do.
“What did we miss, James ….? Wait, I know! What the stone behind Jolly showed!”
And now they start searching for the place where to put it.
When they walk outside, James screams “Where are Jollys’ binoculars! Janice! Look!”
And left of the gate, up high is the right place!
James and Janice are so very happy to find another pearly eye!
They quietly sneak behind the guards’ back and place the eyes on the statue.
“Oh, how exiting, a scroll, lol, no good game without a scroll!”
Janice takes the scroll out of the inventory and opens it.
And this is the last clue they need.
Deep into the castle they set the colours and get the third medallion.
And after placing the medallions, what ..… “careful !!” a sharp knife.
And now all Jollys’ gym-practice shows!
When Janice throws the knife at the rope and cuts it, Jolly kicks a guard and knocks the other one down.
YAY, Jolly!
The three of them are so very happy this game is over!
They sit down in the grass and eat a ham-and-cheese sandwich.
“Do you want some lemon-juice, Jolly?”
It’s summertime.
