On what planet does a bunch of triangles equal a time on a clock?

I finally figured out the triangles clue... for each of the 3 sections, count the # of triangles and then the # of total shapes that the triangles make. It's a bit too obscure for my taste and makes the game less enjoyable.

Oops, for the second part of my hint I meant to say "count the total # of shapes that the triangles make." As in, every part where the lines form any kind of shape. Sorry for any confusion... the clue was already confusing enough and it's very hard to explain!
