zoz - can you help me with getting the lighter for the fireplace? Here's what I'm doing: I go to the old VCR and wait for the dark tunnel. Click on that and go to the small space inside the tunnell where the red key was. There is no hole in the wall, the red key was just lying there for me to pick up with the crow bar. I can't find any spot to make a hole in the wall for it and I've clicked over a million places, I'm sure...any ideas???

ReplyDeleteYou found an other CD after using the elevator. Insert this CD in the old VCD player (2F Pink Master Room) Stop the playing at the 3rd photo when it is clair! Click on the middle of the screen. You will be behind the TV/VCD. There is a very small and narrow place. Use the crowbar on the bottom of the wall facing yourself. Maybe u have to use the crowbar more then 1 time... (brake the wall, make a hole)

I'm thinking if I can't get the lighter, I'm done. The girl appeared and I said yes for her help, but there was no hole and I can't make one. ReplyDeleteonce you play that CD and go through the tunnel, your game can go in two directions, I think based on whether you took the blue puzzle piece from the girl before. I think @Szylvia and I are playing similar games, although I used the Green Key to get into the Guest Room. Once I entered the tiles and the numerical code into the keypad by the brown door in the Guest Room, I got into the Secret Room where the girl was trapped. She gave me the lighter when I freed her.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Tao symbols, one (in the 1F Dining Room) is the "Later Heaven" image with the eight Ba Gua around it. The other (in the 1F Art Room) is the same thing only backwards. I'm trying to figure out how this relates to the Clock puzzle in the 1F Green Single Room.
I see three places to use puzzle pieces in my game: One in the storage room 1F (which is where I used the piece the girl gave to me to get something - I don't remember what that was (maybe the battery for the wall near the coat room); another place for a puzzle piece is in the kitchen on the oven vent; a third empty puzzle piece place is when you are in the past in the computer room where the single door is, the picture changes and there's a place for a puzzle piece there.

Major find (for me, anyway): there is a spray bottle just outside the window of the Blue Bedroom. It has hints on it for the (&^&%*&^(* Clock. I think I have to mix the liquid in it with coffee. Anyone seen any coffee???

ReplyDeleteThere are 3 tile. See the other side of each tile. Compare with the calendar 2F Blue Master Room). These numbers mean 1-1 letter in alphabeth. Have to search these letters in the periodic table of elements. Each elements have a number. U need these numbers!! This will be the code.

ReplyDeleteLOL Zoe do you have 3 or more tiles? If so go to blue master (I think) and compare symbols on back of tiles with calender... Just count left to right from top of calender to corresponding symbols... Convert those numbers to alphabet and then look up periodic table.. When entering these numbers to the codelock put any 3 tiles in and then type the pairs of numbers in but like this example 15 23 06 becomes 06 23 15...

ReplyDeleteLife is sweet! I cleared the Normal Mode with 5 diamonds and got the all-important girl's phone number. It turns out, my Cyan building block was atop the Hall Clock so I had to go back to before I moved the clock to get it.

- perfume : blue master room near bed
- orange key in billard room (recreation room)
Wow @Drisana, Gongtats on getting through Mirror Mode (not to mention finishing the game!). I gave up after running out of ammunition or getting beat by monsters too many times.

In No Particular Order
There are many places where Building Blocks or fragments of Building Blocks may be found, depending on your game:
- in the 1F Dining Room by the corner of the table beside the door to the Porch (where the Star diagram appears).
- in the 1F Bathroom, click under the sink, then click to the left for a view of the back corner.
- on the 1F Porch above the lighting fixture to the right of the door to the 1F Dining Room.
- in the 1F Dining Room, click below and in front of the couch.
- in the 1F Kitchen, on the left side of refrigerator on the floor.
- 1F Living Room on top of the grandfather Clock (you must find this one before moving the Clock).
- 1F Living Room, click on the left of the staircase at the bottom (view facing the Clock) and there is a stool that may have one on top.
- 1F Purple Single Room, after dispatching with the Girl, click the bottom right of the screen to get a view of the floor.
- 2F Stairwell, on the landing facing the Grey Door.
- 2F Locker Room, click near the bottom of the rightmost shower stall for a view of the floor.
- 1F Stair well: Remove the painting and use the Rat tile to get the battery for flashlight. Then, use a Sword to slash the backing and get a Building Block.
- 1F Art Room, view with bed, on top of the Lamp.
That's all I remember right now. Please post if you find other places.
Lighter:
There are many ways/places to find the lighter, depending on how you interact with the Girl
- You may find it in the Space behind the TV, using your crowbar
- You may get it from the Girl in the kitchen after she goes through the cabinet to the Secret Chamber
- If the Girl appears in front of the Painting outside the 2F Locker room, solve the Painting using the Building Blocks (you can get them all back) for the lighter.
- Once you are in the Secret Chamber by going through the 1F Guest Room, you will free the Girl (if she was trapped there in your game), and she'll give you the Lighter.
For the Tiles used to get into the Secret Chamber:
- You will get at least 3 of 4 tiles: a Blue Bone, and Light Yellow Egg, a Red (?) Light Bulb, a Green Tree.
- Look on the back of each tile at the symbol.
- Compare each symbol to the Calendar on the wall of the Blue bedroom.
- Count days from beginning of Calendar page to see which date the tile symbol falls on.
- Find the corresponding letter of the alphabet.
- Google the Periodic table of the Elements and find the symbol that matches the letter of the alphabet.
- Note the atomic number for the element your symbol corresponds to. If it is a single digit (e.g., 3rd day = C = Carbon = 6) make it two digits using a zero (so "6" becomes "06").
- Place each of 3 tiles, in no particular order, on the keypad by the Brown Door inside the 1F Guest room.
- Enter the 3 number codes in the opposite order of the tiles.
Example:
I had tiles that corresponded to days on the calendar as follows:
Bone = 2nd day
Bulb = 11th day
Egg = 25th day
So the corresponding alphabet letters are:
Bone = 2= B
Bulb = 11= K
Egg = 25 = Y
Looking at the Periodic table, the atomic numbers are:
Bone = B (Boron) = 05
Bulb = K (Potassium) = 19
Egg = Y (Yttrium) = 39
When I placed my tiles, I put Bone first (left), Bulb center, and Egg last (right)
So my entry on the number keypad was: 39 19 05 (backwards according to the tile placement).
This is the toughest puzzle for the Normal game (although I haven't figured out the 1F Green Single Room Clock yet).

I played again earlier today and got the Awake End (my personal favorite) and the Cyan Key end with 5 diamonds. I can tell you that the Wood Key does, in fact, exist. However, I could have used a Golden Key that I never found and I STILL can't solve the Clock in 1F Green Single Room or the two opposing Tao Symbols.
ReplyDeleteWhen playing with the Cyan Key, I found the Lighter in the 2F Den with the Crowbar, a new location for me.
I also have not been able to place the Blue Puzzle piece anywhere except the 1F Kitchen. In fact, in my last two games with the Cyan Key, it was already in place when I got to the 1F Kitchen and I couldn't move it. And I haven't found coffee for the Sprayer anywhere!
I have promised myself not to look at this game again for 24 hours (will she make it???)
In the meantime, two last hints: if you want to play with the Cyan key don't even look at the White Key (3F Art Room). Go straight to the Girl and decline her offers for help, twice. She'll give you the Cyan Key.
If you finish Normal Mode, report your score and get the Girl's Phone #. You'll need it for the Awake end.

Battery is inside the square picture behind brown door (you need the gold square tile (rat tile) to place in the space) then stab with the sword and get another building block piece.

Still cannot sort the strange picture colours. Tried the same as on the paper with the shapes but that doesn't work. Any help?
ReplyDelete@slartismum, if you mean the picture outside of the 2F Locker Room that (in some games) the Girl opens 6 holes above it... Look at the shapes on the picture and try to figure out what number would best fit. This will vary from game to game, but for an example: if the Cyan shape is round but flat on one side, a "1" would fit there, and the Cyan Building Block would go in the first hole above the picture. I don't know a simple way to explain the other numbers, but I'm sure you can work it out. Place the Building blocks above the picture from 1-6, left to right, and the picture will drop and give you something if it's right. Take the blocks back so you can use them on the Grandfather Clock later.

ReplyDeleteI've found the 5 Diamonds, submitted the result and seen the end credits. When I return to the Main Menu and click "The Chart" nothing happens and when I click "Collection" the photo frame is empty even though I found a piece of the picture. Is this what happens to other people?
@ Gaz in past time you are kind of trapped, in past time you need to do:
ReplyDelete- enter Manager code and open 1 of the doors (i took right answer)
- take red pen and scribble on pic in office bottom right side to get 4 digits for your box in ventory
- and go in the other office (where you found battery) to enter paper you got from Art Gallery room
then go back in present time, your chosen door is open now, so you can close the wall (the one with the diamond),
so the wall in 3F opens and you can enter the red key room, if you have the red key:

ReplyDelete@sue, in the Secret Room there is a circuit controlled by a hydraulic system. You need to turn the right taps on or off in order to set all the lights on the circuit green. I did it by trial and error.

@sue - the passage was only open for me when I replayed using the cyan key. The passage takes you into the kitchen.

I suspect you can't solve everything playing through one way. I'm replaying with cyan key and can access the Back Porch which was impossible with white key.
ReplyDeleteThe spray needs coffee but all the coffee pots are empty. Hopefully the spray with coffee with help with the coloured clock and/or ying/yang.

ReplyDeleteWhen I tried the Cyan key way, i noticed the "C" above the digits, that could be nothing but the american do. (moreover, both melodies I heard where quite simple - 5 distinct notes - ones, corresponding to those 5 digits in back porch).
Finally made some progress! Yay!
ReplyDeleteAm having trouble with the building blocks in the picture puzzle for the lighter. I had the paper with the black outlines of the shapes. Put that into the past computer and saw what I thought was an order, but I guess that is just the building order?
Saw Zoz's comment about how to figure out the order but don't see it. I can see a '1' in the cyan block but not the other colors.
Any hints?
The picture on the wall shows a series of incomplete colour spheres that represent the order in which to place the blocks in the spaces above. Try to work out what number when added to the partial sphere will complete it. One looks like a sphere with a straight line down the side. If you added the line you would have a complete sphere. The line is "1" so that colour block will be first. Try to work out which colour could be "2", "3", etc. It may be a bit trial and error with a couple but I've played through 4 times now and got them right each time.

Well, I made it 24 hours without playing the game - yay! - but I'm getting ready to try again (boo).
ReplyDeleteSome of the questions I've seen above are related to the Cyan key vs Normal Mode.
If you get the White Key or even look at it before talking to the Girl, you will NOT get the Cyan Key. To get the Cyan key, free the Girl in 1F Purple Single Room, talk and decline her help in the hall by the piano, then go back to 1F Purple Single Room and decline her help again. Then she'll give you the Cyan Key.
However, you won't get the White Key once you have the Cyan so you must find alternate ways to get into the Blue and Pink Bedrooms.
The Piano Tune from 3F Lounge is only important if you have Cyan Key and can access the Back Porch. @John Smith gives an excellent explanation above (10:03 am) for how to convert the Piano Tune into a passcode for the tunnel on Back Porch that leads to the Worship Room.
For the Five Diamond Cyan Key End: You need to know the numbers for each of the four symbols (Mountain, Sun, Star, Crescent) from the calendar and the colors of each symbol as found in your game. Match the Diamonds to the colors and the numbers (always 2 digits) go in the same order as the Diamonds. The Diamonds are placed according to the order of symbols on the portal on the Back Porch.
Silver, Gold and Bronze Coins: Putting the Silver Coin in the slot in the Bath between the Pink BR and the 2F Reception Room will always release deadly gas! You can avoid dying if you have the Gold Coin to place right after placing the Silver. The Gold Coin seems to always come from putting the Luban Block in the hole behind the Grandfather Clock. The Bronze Coin you get from the Secret Chamber after getting all of the lights green (turning ON/OFF various faucets in house). The Bronze Coin will get you the last Diamond (I think, can't remember for sure) or it will get you nothing if playing with the Cyan Key.
Jackie's Most Excellent Music must be played to get the Girl to appear and give you a Diamond when in Normal Mode. Play first song once and second song twice (and wake up in the morning with these songs stuck in your head!). If you're playing with the Cyan Key, you don't have to listen to any of his (lovely) songs.
I'll post more hints/answers to questions as often and as accurately as I can. However, I would Strongly Encourage everyone to have a look at the awesome, amazing, excellent WT for Dream House 1 posted by KitKatFox. Go to the last page of comments (there are almost 1600!) and scroll down pretty far to get to her multi-part WT. It explains so much, you'll be glad you found it!
And now for some of my many questions - in thinking about the game (even though I took a 24 hour break from playing I still thought about it!), it occurred to me that the White Board in the 2F Office with the Front + Back face cartoons = BIN could be a hint for the two Tao Symbols, which are opposite to each other on the 1F Art Room and 1F Dining Room walls. I'm not certain that "BIN" is the right way to read the sign, or if it might be converted to numbers (?). I know that the symbol in the 1F Art Room is the correct "Later Heaven" representation and the symbol on the other side of the wall in the 1F Dining Room is the mirror image of that. Maybe we can only solve this in the Mirror Game???
ReplyDeleteStill NO progress on the 1F Green Single Room Clock or getting coffee for the sprayer, yada, yada, yada. (I'm pretty sure we need coffee for the sprayer, not just because of what the Diary says, but because when (and only when) the sprayer is highlighted and you click on the coffee pot in the 2F Dining Room or the 3F Lounge it says, "Coffee maker is empty".
In playing for the Awake end, I found the "Wood Key" but had several spots where I needed a "Golden Key", which I never found.
Somebody, somewhere, please help! I'll never rest until these (and other mysteries) are solved. And, yes, I am a Charter Member of Dream House Zombies Anonymous.
Oh, a correction to post above on the three Coins: the Gold Coin gives you the Purple Key for the Bathroom of the 1F Guest Room. That's the only way I've found so far to get the Purple Key.

Also, has anyone finished the Gas Mode? Please tell me where you found the Toothpaste - I keep getting stuck without it. I can get five of the six Building Blocks, but can't get another without the code to move the cabinet in the Pink BR. With all six, I would be able to get the Gold Coin and (maybe) stop the gas!

ReplyDeleteZoz, did you find the entire photo or part of a photo ? there are both in cyan end ! to get the part (n°4 if i remember well) you have to put the cd in circle left of door (room with ID card), then you have to finish with 5 diamonds end. If you pull the switch, and get awake end, the photo will not appear.

ReplyDelete@Drisana, thanks. I got the whole photo a couple of times in the room with ID card - it's beside the computer in, I think, the Cyan game. But maybe I played for awake end and so the photo didn't save.
ReplyDeleteFor the blocks you can't reach in the Gas Mode (e.g. atop Clock in Hall, Light Fixture on porch) you can use the Crowbar to get them.
well, this just sucks! I've played for the Cyan + Five Diamonds end, gotten the Girl's picture from the ID room, did NOT pull the lever, but went upstairs to get the Five Diamonds, Saved the Game, Submitted the result and NEVER HAD A PHOTO SHOW UP IN MY COLLECTION! After I click "Submit results" and get the screen with my score, etc., the only thing I can click is "Next". Charts or Collection or Submit won't work for me and Next just takes me to "to be continued". So I'll never be able to play the Sequel??? Pffft!
ReplyDeleteI've only managed to find 4 Diamonds playing cyan key through again. There was no Diamond when I used the Bronze Medal and that has happened both times I played cyan key and I only found the music CD which didn't give me anything no matter how many times I played it.
