Thanks for help. I needed to place bowl first in the 'lotus' flower, then I was able to zoom in on black and white stick and ring the 'bell' bowl. Then I was able to open the cabinet, then read the words from the passport which is a prayer booklet, take flag and coat and I am out.
What annoys me is the religious propaganda (anyone who can read italian will understand what I mean).
gosh, the comments are so unclear.
to be clear that the black and white stick everyone is talking about comes from the chairs, the second from the right chair to be exact.

alright, i'm going to try a walkthrough
1. hit play :>
2. c
Click the left 2 cushions to magically cause them to levitate, then take the ID card, which so far as I can tell is worthless in the gqme
3. Go right. Check out plaque under photo on wall. Also meaningless, but we're here to waste time after all.
4. Click a few dozen times on the blue books until you get a closeup, then click the left book 548 times (ok, maybe more like 40 times) and it will fall off the shelf revealing an apple!
5. Click on book that's second from right and open it. Pretend you read Italian, then write down all the numbers. You'll need them, or at least some of them, later. Just kidding, they're meaningless.
6. Turn the page and admire the handsome photo. Note that "1975" is in red and know that this means absolutely nothing.
7. Click on the plant, slightly to the right middle of the planter, to get a closeup. See that darker green square shadow? Recognize it at once as a lighter and click on it.
8. Leave closeup view and click the stick on the plant that is third from the right to put it in your inventory.
9. Get closeup of safe on second shelf and enter 6278 for code (thanks to Pam for this; my hair would've gone all grey before I figured it out. Apparently, you add the dates 1975 [ok, maybe the fact it was in red had some meaning, after all] plus 1958 [which appeared NOWHERE in the book but was found by some enterprising souls by googling the guy in the photo on the wall to find out when he died] plus 2345, which are the last four numbers on the ID card I earlier told you to ignore. What do you expect from me, it's not like I'm getting paid for this).
10. Open the safe and take the bowl which, as luck would have it, is actually a bell.
11. Click the right side of that same shelf and take the candle.
12. Go right and click around the right side of the base of the blue flag holder 47 times (I counted). Take the apple.
13. Click on the coat to shake it all about, just for fun, and get some sort of Buddhist tract.
14. Click on the door, just in case. No dice, but you had to try it.
15. Go right. Take the candle from the seat of the chair on the left.
16. Click on the middle black and white piece on the back of the chair that is third from left. Duh!
17. Click top of screen and find a third apple on the shelf above. Take it, as you may starve to death before escaping the room without it.
18. Go right. Put bowl/bell in purplish lotus bowl on right of altar. Put chair stick on holder to the right of that. Put a candle on each blue plate. Put the plant stick in the rectangular thing in the center.
19. Use the lighter to light both candles as well as the incense, which apparently grows on green plants. You'll have to click the right side of the incense stick to light it.
20. Click like mad until you get a closeup of the chair stick, which is also an apple-finder. Pick up the stick and click above the bowl/bell. There's an apple inside! Take it!
21. Back up and put your survival cache of four apples on the plate on the left.
22. Go back to the closeup of the chair stick (but not the closer view where you saw the last apple).
23. Pick up the stick and strike the bowl/bell somewhere on the side, around the middle, until it "chimes" (more like "clangs") three times.
24. Back up and open the cabinet.
25. Take the Buddhist tract from your inventory. Open it and pretend to read it. Put it back.
26. Go left twice. Take the flag. Take the coat. Go out the door.
Now, wasn't that fun? You even get a nice "complementi" at the end. What more could any escape addict want???

Oooh, a new look EG24...but they have removed the link to the map of who's online. Now I can't see how many of my fellow Perth escapers are here...oh well, no biggie.
What a flippin pixel hunt this game is. Most of my time was spent clicking, even when I could see items, or knew what to do. This doesnt make for a very enjoyable game IMO. I had the same problem with the last Two Keys game too. This must be the lastest fad in game design, drive the gamer mental looking for a pixel!
