Ruff, give al bones to dog (on ground) near bowl, he digs key to gate for you.

bet, you have to get the metal rod from the fence, then use it to move the third paving rock in front of the gate to get shears.

@michelle - you have to use the crowbar you got from the fence to pry up the stone
and that metal bar is evil! i just clicked everywhere and finally gave up, only to find it in my inventory!
went back to game... the metal bar is on the fence just above the flowers to the left of the ivy. hope that helps someone...

highlighted the crowbar to use with pavement slab but the damn thing is not doing anything

hammer is in the flower bed in the same scene with the ivy - as i recall it just looks like a little red dot

I'm gonna go ahead and make a walkthrough, even though everyone else solved it (and I used your comments to beat it myself).
WALKTHROUGH:
-You will see a doghouse, a gate, a path to the gate and a wall around it. You can't do anything here just yet, so go to the right.
-You'll see an outdoor sitting area, with a table in the middle. Click the flowers on the table and they will move out of their bowl.
-Take the bowl. Don't use it for cereal; flower residue tastes awful in milk.
-While you're here, you may as well start collecting bones. Click the smaller right cushion on the couch until it moves all the way to the left. Then click the bigger right cushion until it reveals part of a bone.
-Take the bone. Refrain from making childish wiener jokes at that command; my brain is making enough of them for us all...
-WAIT! There's more. Click the umbrella to close it. You will see a key. It's attached to the fence (what an odd place to put a key, eh?), so you can't take it. But if you open the umbrella again, another bone falls out (you thought the KEY was hidden in a weird place...WHY DIDN'T THE BONE FALL OUT BEFORE?!)
-Take the bone. And don't say that to your girlfriend.
-Close the umbrella again, just to avoid confusion later.
-Go right again. Here you'll see a well, a door in the ground (???) and some ivy on the wall. If you look at the fence at the top of the wall and on the left side of the screen, you'll see a gray thing there too. It's a crowbar.
-Take the crowbar. And don't think you're clever quoting Moe from The Simpsons. We ALL saw the episode.
-By the rocks and flowers you'll see a small gray square to the bottom left of them. It's part of a hammer.
-Take the hammer. You could make a joke here too, but meh.
-You'll also see part of a bone.
-Take the bone. And if your parents/some other authority figure is around, refrain from telling them to do this for you. They WILL understand the innuendo. They WON'T appreciate it.
-Right once more. Back to beginning screen. Now you have the tools to do some things.
-Select the crowbar. Click the third stone down on the path. You'll see part of the pruning shears.
-Take the pruning shears.
-Now select the hammer. Go to the left part of the brick wall. Halfway between the lamppost and the edge of the screen, and just a tad down from the top of the wall, click. It will reveal another bone (I fear to know what kind of bone would be hidden in a wall. Mafia involvement?) But, all in all it's just another brick in the wall. So who cares.
-Take the bone. And don't say that to the Mafia. Even if they appreciate the innuendo, they probably won't like you finding their hiding place.
-Right again. Cause you're using a walkthrough, so how can you be wrong? Nah, seriously, go to the right.
-Select the shiny new (despite being buried under a stepping stone...) shears. Then click the key. Refrain from wondering why someone would think it was a good idea to tie a key to a fence with the ONLY way to remove it being to cut it down. That's rather impractical in many ways.
-You must now go in a direction again. I'll give you a hint: it's not left.
-Select the key. Click that weird door in the ground. No, there are no bones THERE. Even though, of ALL the places so far, that would make the most sense. There are buttons. The one on top turns on the water. Click it.
**Note: The one on the bottom turns the lights on in the beginning screen. I do not know if this affects the outcome of the game, so click it if you wish, but it's not necessary to win.
-Now select your bowl. Yeah, you forgot about it, didn't you? Well, now that it's selected, click the water and the bowl will be filled.
-Select the shears again. Click the ivy vines in the back. You will reveal yet another bone. By now you're probably doing your Angelina Jolie/Denzel Washington impressions (depending on your gender). Get it? The Bone Collector? Oh screw you people, this is gold! Anyway, this place isn't as weird as the others, so I'll stop now.
-Take the bone. And if you ever see Angelina Jolie in person, BY ALL MEANS say that to her. She may slap you, and at the very least you'll get a disgusted look, but man will it be satisfying...Also, congrats! You've gotten all the bones. You are now free of my horrible "bone" jokes.
-Go directly to the right. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200 (although if you already have it, feel free to tip me for the amusing walkthrough).
-Put the bowl of water on the patch of grass in front of the dog house. Say hello to the dog, who I am affectionately calling Rover.
-Hi Rover!
-Knick-knack patty whack, give a dog a bone! Or in this case, five. They all go to the right of the bowl. He eats them all remarkably fast...then, he will dig you up a key.
-Take the key
-Select the key, then click the lock on the gate.
-Congratulations, you are finished! I knew you could do it. I'm so proud of you I could just kiss you! But a lot of you are probably guys, and I don't swing that way. So a hearty "Kudos" is all you get. For the ladies...hey, both Kudos and Kiss start with K, and hopefully your response to "May I congratulate you with my mouth" will also. ;)
