@yaggus, congrats! I gave up on finding the monkey's name. I tried many things, from animal names to his position's name (famous people for the same position), but this game turned out more pain than pleasure after a while... If you miss one letter you get nowhere, so...
ReplyDeleteAs for a comparison, it's like a really pixel-hunt escape game in which you also have to do things in a certaind order for it to work. It starts getting to the nerves.
Mystery, it was nice in the begining, but then it got painful. Nothing personal, it's just not my idea of fun. I like challenges, but dislike tortures. Lol! Just teasing you! Be happy! :D

ReplyDeleteMystery, I didn't post a solution in the post you mentioned. It was the hint given in the own game. A hint that, if the player got to that level, would be accessible to he/she. (By the way, I had to go searching your request, because I missed it earlier - I didn't even see your post before.)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you didn't notice that even with me pointing out the hint, people still got stuck at that level for a long time - myself included. So it couldn't be the solution (otherwise people wouldn't stay stuck on the level).
Anyway, like I mentioned, I was just kidding about the tortures and such. It's a pitty you took it seriously. I understand you don't want people to win your game easily, for that might make you feel not as smart as you probably are. Just a piece of advice: if it gets too hard, most people just quit, so you won't have as many people playing it as you may wish.
Balance is the essence.

I haven't said it was forbidden to give someone an answer if they are not able to get it due to language difficulties. There are other ways to do that, without posting solutions publicly.

I love riddles myself..Yes, they are hard..It takes a lot of research to finish a riddle..But, thats what makes them challenging..I also know how hard it is,and very time consuming for the author to create a riddle..I agree with Mystery, answers shouldnt be posted..It ruins the game at the time of playing and for other players who play in the future...not to mention if it took you an hour of research to find the answer and someone gives it away in 5 seconds without doing any work at all...If a player cant get the answer, (give a closer clue)then a closer one, and another..I dont think any player here had the right to totally go against Mystery's wishes/rules..Its Mystery's game..If you dont like riddles, then dont play..If it gets to hard and you want to quit,,then quit and stop commenting..Just leave and go to something esle....Now, that I have the opportunity to play this riddle I cant...This is just as frustrating for me, however I dont blame Mystery for pulling this riddle..Maybe I will be able to find it this weekend and give it a go.

I understand that, especially for a riddle game, it consumes a great deal of time and energy; however, many of us do need hints to help us. I look things up and research answers to riddle games, but sometimes no matter how many options I think of, it isn't quite what the game creator had in mind. I will definitely check Gamershood and Nordhino if I get stuck, but in the meantime I would like to play... :)

Purple Hell is a wealth of information with riddle tools for just about every category in the universe...I was trying to decode what I thought was a cryptogram/cryptoquip from the source view. (the "start" page, which by its very name is misleading...oh, okay. Sorry...drifted a moment!) To continue, this required typing 4 seemingly nonsensical words and trying to solve the "hint" !!?? Carola (bless you!) suggested I think in terms of Roman cipher....so, like a dutiful gamer I embarked on a crusade to find the "Roman" way on Purple Hell (appropriately named for the way I feel now!!!! :( (tears streaming down cheeks and not much hair left at this point...very loud wail from a primordial region I hoped never to reach, much less wallow in....) I have learned more about codes and ciphers and cryptograms and I'm sure there is more but Purple Hell hasn't added it yet!!!! Caesar's cipher (both of them) aren't giving me any hope, nor is the Roman twist (aka alphabet). Let me recap the ciphers I have attempted but without success: the renowned "Atbash Cipher" (Roman alphabet); Caesar Box Cipher and let us not forget the ROT (Caesars)cipher....I have a migraine and I think I have unwittingly scrambled what intelligence I do have....

ReplyDelete@J@de...I finally made it past lvl 1...I was staring at the answer the entire time....duh!!!! Changed file name instead of following ROT instruction!!! Now trying to figure correct answer for lvl 8...lol! TY for your help!!

ReplyDelete@imakeefforts...it is possible! Join the club!! :) Here are a few hints to help take you to the next level:
ReplyDelete1. If you haven't opened up the site purplehell.com, do this...this site contains lots of tools to help you in this game.
2. Check the "source" hints under "Tools"...this gives valuable information.
3. Okay...figuring out the answers has to do with ciphers and researching Wiki and Google so...check source hint on "start" page and decipher the strange words. When choosing a cipher tool from purplehell, think ROMAN.
4. You will notice an option that deciphers those strange words and instructs you what to do next. Follow what the sentence says and you will get past the pesky Level 1!!! Oh, and don't forget to add .html after you change the URL.
I'll be around for a bit, so just ask if you need clarification okay? I was stuck on Lvl1 for days but once I realized I had been staring at the answer the whole time, I had to laugh! Best of luck!

@J@de, about the purple hell, it was to help irishenigma to start the first level. But that's a site for all ciphers and other tools to help you solve riddles. the purple hell is not a hint in the game, just a site someone on nordino told me about and helps me a lot to solve the levels to the temp end on 31. Are you still stuck and need a hint somewhere?
A HINT FOR ALL WHO ARE STARTING: check the source code!! and change the FOLDERNAME, not the filename. Purple Hell is your friend.
@j@de for level 21 also use purple hell, the hint for the cipher is already given by some letters ;)

ReplyDelete@irishenigma i did past the 1st level and now i am wondering where mystery saw the CAP letters on the page with the answer on lvl 6 about the HTTP guy (i saw his name but not the last 3 letters i have to put- any idea where i should look for them?). But i just put the answer feline gave and now stuck with somekind of a barcode on lvl 7(i have changed the last part of the URL). Any hints about that too?

I'm on lvl 8 too...thought I knew what kind of monkey it was by the picture, but something tells me this is going to be tricky (what am I saying..."trickier" than most of the hints so far!!!! haha! Starting my search now so the first one to come up with the answer...a shot of tequila!
ReplyDeleteOH OH OH ....!!!!! Got lvl 8...woo hoo!!!! Okay, here is the hint: search Wiki (I plugged in monkey librarian); literature is a great place to concentrate your search!! :) Wiki will take you to a page with a familiar .jpg on it! Hope this makes sense...

I am starting my search now :) I am glad i am not the only one here ;) But still feel stupid, couse i am checking about hints on all levels. Probably i have to practice more with my brain :)

Thank you sweatheart, that helped me a lot. I have been looking bout that a hole day and i have to study couse i have an exam on monday :( But you saved my day :) Thanks again, and now i am on 9 too ;) Probably soon i will ask for help, so be ready with the hint :D
ReplyDelete@Elitsa...your English is great! Lvl 9 will make you laugh when you figure out the answer...in source, read the hint and think of a very basic "thing"! I'm now on lvl 9a...hoping all the research I did for lvl 9 (all the answers that didn't work...lol!) will help me!! I'm happy to help! Oh, and best of luck on your exam!!!
