Which Browser? Walkthrough

Which Browser?

Many visitors contacting to us about problems while visiting EG24, loading games, posting comments and etc. But when i asking which browser they use, near all of them are using Internet Explorer. And when i check site statistics, i see that 75 % of our visitors are using Internet Explorer. For this reason, i want to make a post about selecting your browser for better and faster browsing and playing games. I strongly suggest all EG24 users to use Google Chrome or Firefox.

Internet Explorer is really like a stoneage browser, if we compare with Google Chrome and Firefox. You may have many problems about loading and playing games on EG24 or other sites, if you use Internet Explorer. So, please change your browser, if you are still using Internet Explorer. You can download Firefox and Google Chrome free with these links:

Download Google Chrome or Download Firefox

If you find any broken link about this game, please report and let us know by contacting us. We will add working link if there is any alternative. You may also report any game bugs or problems about games directly to developers from their websites.

Awesome Yalçin. Indeed, many people have problems w/ IE. I use Chrome and it has never let me down!
C'mon guys, all that use IE, download Chrome now! Best browser ever. :P

As a person that has Microsoft headquarters right down the road.. I applaud this post! Those "softies" are a piece of work and I rarely use anything they make (except Xbox). Proud to live in Microsoftville and be a 100% Apple family! :)

Bravo! I personally use Firefox, and I never had any problem. The only problem I had sometimes is that a few games are sometimes designed for IE only (as stated in the introduction itself)... as I really REFUSE to use IE (I'd even like to delete it completely form my pc, if I could), I usually have to skip these games and that's a pity. So, I join Yalcin in inviting people not to use IE, but I also ask games developers to make games for every browser other than IE!

there´s always firefox add-on :IE tab

Great post @Yalcin; I hope you'll leave it up front for a while so that everyone can see it. Personally, I'm with @Enjoy - 100% Apple!

I use Opera - a fairly obscure browser to most, but I like it. Every once in a while I find a game that won't load on it. Then I use Firefox. If a game won't load in anything but IE, I skip it.

Sorry, but I do webpages that are accessed by many elderly people with OLD computers. I have IE SIX still on my main computer, so I can test pages with it - and it won't run ANYTHING. And I'm not minded to did out my laptop just to play a game.

There are plenty of browsers out there that work well. Why use IE?

My main browser is Firefox but I also have Chrome, Opera and Epiphany as standbys. I avoid IE as much as possible as it's too open to viruses etc. I also don't use a Windows interface... I use Linux and Ubuntu.

I use Chrome a lot but I find Opera the fastest. I never use IE and I used to use FF as standard but stopped because the updates were killing my PC.

I'm no fan of Windows, but seriously, aren't those Apple suckers just annoying? Seriously, if I owned even just ONE Apple product, I'd tell nobody because I would be so f-ing ashamed. They think they're so progressive and avantgardistic, but they're nothing but followers that support child labour and pollution in China. I guess Apple could even release something called iShit, and those people would still buy it. "Windumb sux! Mac is sooo much better, teehehe!" No, it's not. Go get Linux or something. But you're not independent enough for that, are you. I just hope that Apple gets eaten by Google soon, because that would mean less waste when dumping them both.

That said, I'm really glad about this post. I knew these people that kept complaining about those rollover spoilers are using IE. Not because IE isn't capable of showing these spoilers, I'm pretty sure it is, but because those people who can't change their browser settings accordingly are the same people who just use IE because it's preinstalled. Arbeitslooser mentioned this some time ago and there, he was right.

Anyway, I don't mean to spark a discussion about the pro's and con's of Apple now, but just one last thing: Are people seriously buying media electronics that are NOT from Japanese or Korean producers? Because that's sort of like driving a car that's not from Japan or Korea...

@Lydia, have you considered anger management classes?

@zoz - I completely agree with you.

@Lydia - I can understand feeling strongly about a subject, but this post is most belittling of other members of EG24, not to mention casting a bad light on yourself.

I've been using Opera for many years. I really love this browser. Firefox is good too, but requires many plugins, addons, in order to work properly. IE has no regard for the web standards and is real pain in the ... for web developpers.

And I totally agree with Kathy K.

Thanx for this post, Yalcin!! I've been using Chrome for years now, and I won't go back! I occasionally use IE, when I have no option, and I always regret it! Opera is good, but I find Chrome a bit faster. Then again, it also depends on your internet service provider, and whether your hubby in the next room, sitting on the laptop, isn't using up all your bandwith LOL!

@Lydia: Angry much? Definitely not the place for such a post, especially as we're discussing BROWSERS and not companies.

I use chrome..and on the other comp FF...dont ask why..lol..I just do and both goes fine :))

You know..I was curious what kind of escape this game would be..a browser escape? riddle? but think it is a: escape from the worst browser =)

Oh, and I like apple...but also pear..banana..orange...strawberry :))

I use Chrome but sometimes I do come across a problem with some of the sites. It seems to have more to do with the volume of traffic than my browser. I'm not sure if that is a bandwidth problem from SA or if it is the sites themselves.

Although I'm also not a fan of internet explorer I disagree with your approach of promoting a different browser just because you can't build your website browser independent.

If every website builder would stick to the standards and did their work properly we wouldn't have all these issues.

That said, as being a web developer myself, I know it's not always that easy to stick to standards since not all browsers have either implemented all standards or implemented them correctly. And I also have my lazy days and don't wanna test my work with all common browsers.

But I know I should since build for a specific audiance and not for specific browsers.

I never heard of a road construction engineer promoting a specific car brand because it was easier to build roads for......

I use Chrome for a solid 95% of my browsing and I love it forever, but I still have to keep the IE Tab extension because there are a few websites (even a few games posted here) that just do not play well with other browsers besides IE.

Hmmm...Willem has an interesting point, but if a browser doesn't work so well on this site, then it's good to point it out to others - especially to new people to discover this wonderful site, but can't use it because of the problems with the browser they're using. I've used FF, IE and Chrome. I've had a few problems with IE, and had to switch to FF, but not too many times. In fact, I'm using IE now.

What I DO appreciate is being able to express how I feel as just my humble opinion. :)

I use FF, I'm a little suspicious of Google's data mining so I don't use Chrome. I do have to use IE occasionally for a site that I need to access for bid documents. I might have to check out Opera after reading this most interesting post!

I use safari, but I've downloaded chrome and I use it when I cannot get the game loading.

Escape the IE browser!

Yalcin's post made me laugh!

I love my Firefox. IE is just unstable and it's not as safe as people think.

Usually people who think they might break their computer still use IE as standard because they just want to browse the internet and play a few games.

While that's understood, you also have to be aware of your safety as well as the internet's growing need to improve.

It would be well within any basic browser's interest to switch over to a new browser as soon as possible. Just take this moment as a time where you're learning something new about computers.

If you're that scared or unsure, ask someone to download and install the browsers for you.

I'm a Chrome boy myself, I find it much better than IE which I used to use exclusively, but I found it getting increasingly 'clunky', so I took advice from people on here and switched to Chrome.

Thanks for the topic Yalçın :o)

Hello RSA Momma Cyndi! I'm also in SA, and yes, our bandwidth here isn't all it could be. All the ISP's have to ride on Telkom's infrastructure as it is. We need more competition here to get decent internet speeds properly off the ground.

Thanks everybody for their comments ;-)

willem411, if i am construction engineer, and i have very old and useless cars to build roads, i will ask and suggest to my managers to change the cars and get latest technology cars.

Google, Facebook and some other popular websites are also having some problems with IE. So, it is not about developing a website as browser independent or not. IE also may crash and freeze computers without opening a website. These means that these problems are not about the websites, they are mostly about Internet Explorer.

Thank you Yalcin. I hardly ever have any problems loading the games.
But I really do hate the games where you have to start all over if you accidentlly click on the ad,

Good to see catalyste here again :) and good to see a healthy debate going on.

I personally don't like IE and never have......

EG24 gives free games to all users, but some users cannot play them because of browser issues....that's why this thread is so important, Yalcin is trying to please all of the people all of the time.....a nearly impossible task. Can we try to make his job a little easier please?

Hi Rachel,

Yip. Then some mampara manages to get the sea cable shut down every so often - I wonder if it's made of copper (just joking)

Its better than it was a few years ago but I'm never 100% sure if it is the site being slow or the link to the site. During 'rush hour' even the local bank site dashes along like a herd of turtles

That's weird. I always use IE and have never had a problem here or on other sites. I've tried other browsers in the past, but always had troubles with them. I wouldn't download anything from Google for the same reason Stryboh stated. I didn't like Firefox. I liked Opera, until it started closing by itself whenever I was in the middle of something. So I stick with IE which gives me no problems. It is kind of funny to read a request that we please change our "stone age" browser when 75% of us are using it. In my case I'm using it because it has been the most reliable.

LOL @ Momma Cyndi!! You're so right!!!

I love Firefox, I refuse to have IE on my system.

I use Google Chrome and have no problems. I stopped using IE about 5 years ago cos it was nothing but problems. :-D

I know I'm late, but my input might help another person like me decide......

I have a very small stone age computer [Yes,Yalçın, I call him "Ugg", just ask some of the other commenters =)].
It has one eighth of a gigabyte of RAM, 697 MHz running speed, one slow speed usb port, through which I receive my mobile internet broadband.
I can only have one window open at a time; any more and I lose my internet connection.

I completely deleted IE from my computer when I started using it in early 2010. I quickly realised I would never be able to use it with this computer.
I've also deleted any other programs from Ugg, because he won't run them. He is an internet-only, virtually no downloading or uploading, emergency pc, for me.
I have switched off ALL updates because most of the time Ugg can't run the new versions anyway, never mind the updating process.

I have tried chrome a couple of times, but found that it is almost impossible to switch off the updates because, as Styrboh pointed out, they are big data miners and don't like it if they can't access you regularly. It's possible, but you need a degree in programming to be able to do it, as far as I can see.
The updates were trying to take place every day, and when I tried to stop them from the task manager, they'd start up again within the hour.
Chrome is lovely, and ran nice and fast, but I got sick of the updates killing my internet connection, then panicking because they'd lost me, then killing it again.

Opera is beautiful, too, and I could even see some animation on it [mostly I see only a stop-go, intermittent slideshow] but it is simply too big for Ugg, and I can't find an older version to try.

To ensure I'm rid of unwanted browsers fully, I perform a system restore. Google, especially, are rascals for leaving little snippets behind, in disguise, that you can't get at [unless you have that degree, again].

To anyone else struggling to keep playing here, I recommend you turn off all updates, use Firefox only [I'm stuck with version 3.6.16], and clean browsing and download history, form and search history, cookies and cache every time you open a new tab. My thoughts are with you, because I know exactly what you're going through. =)

To slightly change the subject:
If I ever have the money to buy a new computer, it will be a mac. No question in my mind at all.

Bill Gates once reportedly boasted that he had eleven computers in his house, and they were all windows pcs.
Someone replied that if he had a mac, he would only need ONE.
;)

I forgot to add in my advice to small pc-owners that the only niggle with Firefox is that, when a game runs a plugin, such as flash, FF is greedy. Even when the game window is closed, it won't give you the memory back.
My way round this is to have the task manager open to stop the process manually. [The "plugin-container exe." process.]
You will be warned that your system could become unstable, but it's all lies.
Twenty-two months ago I started doing that, and my system only becomes unstable when I DON'T do it =)
