Have a golden fish, placed pot plant in a note I found on floor, and a pen. Have also 4 fans (battledores).
fed slug to egret, got a ladder and, need I say it, yet another battledore. enough with the battledores, already. too much of anything can get boring.
use nippers in little tea house to get a brush. at least it wasn't another battledore.
netted a goldfish, but the strange floating goblin still isn't coming down.

Found a green snail in cave.
and @larue surges to a surprise finish, passing us all in our battledore-induced stupors! Gongtats @larue!
the slug... the slug... maybe that was down under where we got the net, by the ant?

@larue, my heron/egret was not interested in the fish. Has anyone captured the green frog?
Click right side in screen where you dig the hole. slug is in the kitchen inside a pan.
found him but the stork won't take it
i never caught the frog, but i put my battledores, plant, and dude from roof on the paper
frog ate the bug & gave me a key which gave me nippers
hmmm, just found a new scene. it's all bamboo. just past the garden you can see beyond the teahouse?
Restarted the game after put goldenfish in waterfall, and now I can´t find green caterpillar anymore. Guess I could get the frog with it.
so that's where the caterpillar comes from!
yes, @roberto, the caterpillar is for the frog. He moves and you get a key.
the key gets you scissors so you can cut down the orange.
so much for "doing this quick".
hm, put orange in vat the white rabbit had been working on and get what looks like cut up vegetables for stew? The plot thickens...

finally found the right pixel to place the ladder and grab the goblin [ to the left of the scene against the building in back]
didn´t find any rat in this game?
Placed my "sundae" in note and used brush to get normal end.
ok, like @larue said, put the pine, the goblin, and the ? [which now looks like the mochi cake from Escape Room 205] all on the paper.
still haven't done anything with brush or with ant.
oooh, I see now. Once you add the battledores to the paper you get "2012". Or maybe 2011. The goblin is hard to read.
rat is on roof of bldg in first scene with rabbit
Placed sundae, pine, battledors and lion dancer (weird guy)on paper, used brush and got a normal end
so now we have to go through the Year of the Rat again? I don't think so! Bring on the Dragon (not midnight here, yet).
I've got to play this one again, as I was too busy running my mouth, er, fingers to pay proper attention. It was fun playing with you all, and I look forward to many happy games in 2012!

I can't find no caterpillar, and where to use the ladder please?
To Jennifer and mhtyhr:
The orange goes into the pot by the rabbit to make a dessert in a sundae dish [orange sorbet? Yum!] and the caterpillar is in the centre of the bamboo scene, about a third of the way up the screen [slightly more lime-coloured than the rest of the bamboo. Colour-blind people are going to have massive problems here.]
To get to the bamboo scene, find the scene where you are inside [I think] and you can see out to the garden at the back. There is a patch of bamboo growing in the right side of the garden. Click here to find the bamboo scene. =)

- Go left (Rabbit scene)
- Take BATTLEDORE-1
- Notice the rat near top left screen
- Click left door
- Take CARROT
- Go back to rabbit scene
- Give carrot to rabbit
- Pick up HAMMER
- Go Right (Main gate scene)
- Hammer entrance
- Pick up PINE
- Go Right (Frog scene)
- Notice the frog
- Go Right (Room)
- Pick up BATTLEDORE-2
- Pick up Shovel/Scoop
- Go Right (corridor)
- Use Shovel on the circle on the floor
- Go down to the cave, pick up NET
- Go back up to corridor
---FOR SPECIAL END---
- Go right 4 times until you see a waterfall
- Use NET to take GOLDFISH
- Put Goldfish on waterfall
- Enjoy the animation

- Use scissors to take Orange [top right of screen]
- Go left all the way to rabbit scene
- Put orange in wooden mortar, and you'll get a fancy orange mochi thingy in your inventory
- Go right 7 times (wooden hut)
- Move red wooden pail, pick up NIPPERS
- Go inside hut
- Use nippers to get BRUSH
- Click on piece of paper on the floor
- Place battledores, orange mochi, pine & lion dancer on the piece of paper
- Use brush to write new year message
- Done!

a little off topic but.. I was really wondering how they came up with such translations?
At first I thought it was google translate's fault, but when I tried entering the Japanese version of the opening text on google translate, the result is:
"Priest in mice of the year everyone wants a happy New Year is Upon welcome now ready
Cha do quickly Imashou
New Year's Eve quickly"
Their version is better than google for sure though
