@JEB5JD....so what's the trick on the clocks?

Out! Fun! Thanks SD!!! I really needed this today!

Jo wake up there is a new SD game out!!! Going in :)

And out!! Thanks for the piano hint! I still don't get it though!

Gem Placement,
R in J
O in D
G in G
W in C
P in M
Y in P
B in X

Thanks All !

you have to just use the end points! so the red clock is in the 12 o'clock position and the green clock is in the 6 o'clock position.

Hint for colored "clocks" in Z is really not precise enough. Loosing a lot of time just trying to get the right combination. :(

Apart from that, great game, as always!

The trick with the clocks is to point the dials on towards the 3 and 9 as much as possible for the four that point to the corners. I.E. The Y would be at 2 oclock. The clue is on the screen in the upper left most room.

i had to play around alot with the yellow, pink, blue and green ones... so i am not 100% sure this is it.... yellow- 2 o'clock, pink 4 o'clock, blue 8 o'clock, purple 10 o'clock

The picture points are all pointing at certain numbers if you look at a clock. (all even numbers)

NVM, figured out the piano clue, after I got out and thought about it!! :) Tnaks Mejiro

@SD I just went back in to try without the candle numbers and they were still there. Maybe cuz I have already been there?

Wow! 2 SD games in 2 days??? This must be heaven.

@SD went back in and candle numbers are gone now. Thanks for a great game!

Candle numbers well and truely gone - can't find them anywhere - trying trial and error but not getting anywhere!

Room D, order is lit displayed,. Should it be?

Huh? What does this mean. Where is clue for how to light candles?

Can anyone help - where's the candle hint please???

@Jax: there isn't a candle hint. Just find the order where all of the candles stay lit.

Where is purple key?

The order for the candles is 4,2,6,3,1,5.

@ fb8f4898-4b4d-11e0-a66f-000bcdcb471e see comment by Selfdefiant 3/14/12 8:33 AM. The candle scene showed which order to light the candles. It was a bug.

@princess: The purple key is in room R

If A=1, Earl=511812, = BEEAEF on piano!

Another great game - thank you @Selfdefiant!!!
And special thank @Mejiro for the piano clue. I was convinced it was a bug until I saw your post at 8:27.

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 10:14 AM

Help - candle order does NOT work. Can't get any more than one to stay lit using ANY order!

nice one

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 10:21 AM

Hello (I used to post here as Pascale),

How do you remove the EARL tag in room P ? I have a crowbar, but no sd.
I bruteforced the candles order, I don't know if there was a hint somewhere.

Where Is The MAP, I can't find it?

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 10:29 AM

@pamarina87, you have to buy it !

Oh thanks, found it....

@Pascale/pdgph, there is a screwdriver in one of the rooms. I think someone posted the location above. As i recall, it is on a window sill on the right side of the room?

@Morgan posted earlier that the screwdriver is in room R.

thanks SD for the pre-weekend treat!

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 10:36 AM

Where is the MAP???

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 10:37 AM

Oh now I see just above - you have to buy it. So where is the STORE??

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 10:42 AM

Anyone?? Stuck needing green & gold key. Candle won;t work right - any hints? 4,2,6,3,1,5 doesn't work anymore.

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 10:47 AM

OH!! so embarrassed. I found it. I swear I thought I had been in every room.

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 10:49 AM

Thank you Zoz, I'm going to look for it again.

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 10:55 AM

Zoz, you were exactly right : the screwdriver was in room R, on the windowsill, on the right of the room.

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 11:02 AM

The piano clues are totally beyond my understanding !

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 11:06 AM

@Morgan "If A=1, Earl=511812, = BEEAEF on piano!"
but the problem is that the book says that A is 4, not 1 ! The hint don't make sense.

is this live 1 ..just joning

hi does anyone no where the knife is please

Thanks for the game, @Selfdefiant!
So, you took out the spoiler on the candles, but was there a hint anywhere? (I had to brute force it -- never very elegant.)

(and thanks to earlier posters for several things I missed and the piano solution)

Knife in X, behind blue key

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 11:37 AM

Thank you, PuzzledinCA. I haven't found the blue key, yet. And I don't understand the weird hints for the piano.

second the comment of pdgph ...also dont understand piano clue

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 11:44 AM

I think that I have understood the piano puzzle, but where is the hint for the dials (room Z), please ?

Piano clue (thanks @Mejiro)
Position in alphabet
E-A-R-L = 5-1-19-12
Book says 5=B, 1=E, 9=B, 2=F

@pdgph, try the screen (I missed it the first time too)

where is the blue gem ? i cant find it

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 11:51 AM

@Raasti, the piano puzzle is difficult, IMHO.
The word EARL is made of the 5th letter of alphabet, then the first one, then the 18th, then the 12th. It gives a number : 511812. Considering each digit separately, we can see in the book that 5 corresponds to B, 1 corresponds to E (twice), 8 corresponds to A, 1 corresponds to E (again), then 2 corresponds to F.
So, you get : BEEAEF.
Anyway, I can't see any colour clue in room T...

finally out .......

       Anonymous  3/14/12, 11:53 AM

POP, the colour hint is in room S, I missed this !

pdgph,
The screen with colour clue is in S not in T.

colour clue in S not T

how do U leave??????

j_flamm,
When you have all 7 gems, some of the rooms get a slot to put a gem in. When you placed all 7 gems go to room G and then down.

Corrected: (S & T were reversed)

First thing is to find the magic bottle to collect orbs.
You have to buy map from the orb shop.

Getting started:
Left, take crowbar
Right, break rusty lock for silver key
left, up, left 3x, up, right for Sacred Jar
left, down, down for orb shop
You need 15 orbs to buy map (which has red key)

I found 100 orbs, spent 80 in the orb shop, then forgot to use the 50-orb crystal!

WHERE THINGS ARE
(for some things you need flashlight to find/see)

Room, Orbs, other
A,2,orb shop
B,4,crowbar, orange gem
C,3,(start), rusty lock
D,4,candles, gold key
E,5
F,4, lighter
G,5, down = EXIT
H,6
I,5, rusted cover, yellow gem
J,6, 4# box, blue gem
K,3,
L,5, orb bottle (and creepy leg bones)
M,5
N,5, piano, blue key
O,4, stitches, white gem
P,3, bed panel, green key
Q,4, book
R,3, stitches, SD, purple key
S,3, number clue, purple gem, color clue
T,3
U,3
V,3
W,3, red gem
X,3, knife
Y,3
Z,3, 12-pos dials

map has red key
book has "Earl" and musical note clues

You need keys for D,H,N,Q,X,Y

Puzzle hints
candles -- none!?
4# box -- number clue in S
piano -- book
dials -- color clue in S

For the candles, when you have the order right they stay lit.
Start with 42, then pretty easy to get the rest by trial and error

Great game, apart from the 8 colours 12 clock position thing. For such logic to leave you with pure guesswork seems a shame. Or am I missing something?

Late as usual .. sigh.

Loves my SD though .. so going in.

The dials have always been like this. There are 12 positions. The clues usually don't correspond exactly with the 12 positions on the dial. I realize for some it doesn't make sense. I see where you're coming from. If you go just by visual you will usually get it. I too sometimes have to adjust one or two before it works. :)

Off to work ..will have to come back to this.

SelfDefiant - THANKS!! I love your games. My only (very small) critique of this one is the big, fancy font you use in the notes section. It makes it hard to fit much in the window. But don't get me wrong...better big than nothing. :-)

@Selfdefiant -- I thought the color clue was fair, as the 6 colors are easily every other number on the clock of the 12-position dials.

I loved the flashlight -- I could use it even where it wasn't super dark to just make it easier to see in these dark scenes (I even found an orb using it!)

I think there should have been a clue for the candles, however.

Im always too late to catch it live...:(

Took me some time to realise that I only needed 15 orbs for the map and not 75! Went scabby-eyed looking for the other 18.

after long time a live game
Thanx SD
nayana, India 03/15/12 11.58ist

Candle clue bug....only one would light at a time. Refreshed, and it reloaded but all my progress was los :( ,But at least the candle clue worked the 2nd time.

Great one SD!! I liked the key in the map, how clever ;) and the magically locked door lol

I tried to post this yesterday, but blogger was playing up again.

We who often play these asylum games have an advantage - we know to a certain extent what to expect.
It's lovely to see them change slightly and evolve over time, but a small part of me wishes I could play as a first-timer again =).
I seem to have been perfectly ready for this asylum, and was right in touch with it.
I had no problem with any of the puzzles, but I can imagine how it must feel for someone who hasn't the foggiest clue about what's going on.

It is normal to discover the candle-lighting order for oneself, without a clue or hint. You are only able to keep the candles lit if you light them in the correct order. This is not a bug, but the actual puzzle.
It isn't strictly brute-forcing, just a memory test, like pelmanism. You could argue that the later game is brute-forced all the way through =D.

I loved the piano puzzle. this time it had an extra dimension.
Another explanation:
Take the word "EARL" and convert the letters to their numerical position in the alphabet.
Then look at the numbers in the book's list and assign each number its note.
The A to G sequence of the list was a dead giveaway.

The dials. I never think of them as clocks, and I'm not sure why anyone does. Was there a clock-related clue for them in another game?
You see the star in S has six point-positions.
If each dial has six click positions also, then you're laughing all the way to the reward, but it has twelve.
It's easy. Two sixes are twelve [when I last looked], so just double the number of clicks to get the little line to the correct spot.
Actually, my explanation seems fairly convoluted, but someone above seemed to get in a real muddle trying to find six positions with twelve clicks! =S

Beautiful game, SelfDefiant, thank you, and just when so many of us were needing a decent asylum to be lost in, after all those sparkling beaches =D

To PuzzledinCA:
Your walkthrough was lovely for checking that I had all the orbs, thank you.
I did have the same amount, but I found four in C and three in B.
I'm going to play again tomorrow to have a closer look in case I missed one =D

out with no help, and I presume a terrible score. This took me a while lol

Thanks, SelfDefiant! Nice game :)

How do you leave? I have all of the crystals, can't find anywhere to put them to unlock the magic door

Thanks for the piano clue, it's so easy when you explain it.

I cant find gold or silver key!!

Hey guys I have just started playing .. seems a really good game ... I have reached a stumbling block on the first challenge lol ... I have picked up the crowbar and found the silver key in the next room ... but how do I put the item down so that I can pick up the key .... sorry I sound like such a noob .. thanks in advance for any help

       Anonymous  5/21/12, 11:28 PM

Vicki,
to put an item down, just click on one empty red square under game screen = inventory. Moving inventory with the arrows left & right of it, you even have more places to use.

This game is really awesome..i l0ved it..but i'm stuck at the dials portion..please can someone help..:(

please do help me friends..i m stuck at the dials.. :(
