Oh dear, I really tried even though there are scary numbers, but I can't get the object of the first number grid puzzle - what's everything supposed to add up to?

Not getting the color square. I have each color adding up to 7 but it doesn't accept my answer. I don't think I can make contiguous colors, but is that a rule?

@seb, according to the example ,you need to change the colors in the grid to make each group add up the same per color.
Before you start clicking on any number, you can notice there are already 7 different colors in place, and adding up all the numbers in the grid you get 49. Therefore it is easy to know '7' is the 'magic number' as bchzd2 said.

How to plug in the color puzzle, please?
@Vicious, solve the puzzles in order. Get the flashlight from 1st puzzle and climb the ladder to solve the second one. This one will give you the needed grabber to plug 3rd puzzle.
