well idk if this is the cluse but it was on a mirror to the left which is on the back of the door with the 9 jap. #'s on it
you have to go through that door and you will see it when you exit

Thanks a ton larue, yes you DO need to see the clue! I had nothing changed in my combination, and it didn't work before I looked into that $%§# mirror!
329 came from the tv, left door open with number on tree, and number on right door after you turn on heater above door

the heater remote is under the carpet in the view of 4 sliding white doors and 2 snakes on them

then you need to open the left door and you will see all 3 numbers
(1 on tv, 1 when you open left door(it's on the tree, and the 1 on door after you turn on the heater)

Have you already given the ring to that black individual in the kitchen? Well, if not, remember to do it. However, the "clue paper" makes no sense to me yet.
the locked gray door with the 5 vertical squares has a panel(?) to the right of it. that panel is the signs of the zodiac, and the poster/mirror above the guy in the other room tells what the animals are. don't know what to do with that info though. the "e" shape above the little dessert cake is serpent in the zodiac (www.kanjigraphy.com/cdkg003/cjk1g1945.html)
actually, that's not a dessert cake. don't know what it is, but it had the blue snake on top of it

Oh, and for the left/right orange snakes, you have to ZOOM on the clue on back of the doors; just seeing it isn't enough apparently.

ooh, I just went back to check on the 329 safe and found a #5 button for the remote, to the left of the safe on the floor.

I have found snake/colors for all numbers between 1-0 except for #8. Maybe it's in the cabinet safe?

the blue key is above 329 safe hanging from ceiling

If we read this VERTICALLY column-by-column and "translate" this using the zodiac table on the back of the mirror, we ought to get
うま - uma - (not Ms. Thurman, but...) the Horse ( 午 )
い - i - the Boar ( 亥 )
ね - ne - the Rat ( 子 )
う - u - the Hare ( 卯 )
み - mi - the Serpent ( 巳 )
うし - ushi - the Ox( 丑 )
(II.) If that logic worked (currently it doesn't), it would be a button sequence like horse - boar - rat - hare - serpent - ox.

to activate the pad you need to get the safe inside the shoe cabinet open first.
You'll see the rest then yourself ;)
pink key is extremely important
without it:
no entrance to
- bathroom
- room next to bathroom
- stairs that lead up

My "instructions above" (i. e. for the panel with japanese signs on pads) are still there, and also supposed to remain there.

Uch...in order to give credit where credit is due: it's zoz who found that '5', not me! So we have to say thanks to her (and her persistence to "re-scour" the area with the chest :))
stuck, found all #'s, don't know what to do with square with japanese characters by door and how to turn power on to final keypad
An excellent game. Much thanks to arbeitslooser for his enthusiasm as well as his genius. Using the hints above, I got 'Happy End'. Anyone get others?
I'd gladly like to give that back, just1. You're no more "genius" than me. Many times it was you to give us a guiding light when a whole crowd was staring at the game like a herd of dull sheep, but had no idea how to continue.
