being thick as a brick about this code though
in the middle sofa you can read "four"...but the other two hints will not make a number for me.....

Neither do I, and that's mainly because Nini is a brilliant logical thinker.
You would not expect entirely illogical situations in her games, would you?
(or stupid dead-ends, like seen many times, trapping yourself because you just dared do things in a different order, etc.)

P.S. just wanting to add this: perfect logical thinking is a MUST for game making. If he/she knows not to be good at it, he/she had better NOT make games. (Since illogical situations will only cause major annoyance...)

+1 arbeit. Forcing players to do something entirely senseless like "You have to throw the muffin at the lightbulb, which activates the phone" only pisses them off.

6 digit code: NINI translates into 1 4 9 1 4 9
(A = 1)
3 pieces of paper from sofa anagrams to "war of canudos" - google finds you 1896
this gives you 3rd hint 57BD - turn around A=1 and 1 = A which gives you EG24 (lol)
PS some codes I had to put in 2 times before they worked so try a second time!
