The spade is used on the ground of the scene with the 2 tall candlesticks (right of the starting scene).
I seem to have opened everything and I have nothing left in my inventory, but I have only 9 chickens.
How to open small box? There is a chicken just left of it.

Thank you, you found my missing chick ! The small box is opened according to the stars hint, from top to bottom, the first star being the largest one.

Are there any other tricky chicks (other than the one behind the small box) ? I have 9 & can't find the last one . . .
I'm stuck with 9 chicks:
First scene black pot
Second scene: behind thing in the back
One from small box + spade. One left of small box
One from large box + rice cake
One from left skirt and one from green boot
One from putting riace cake on fire + clue
After using the spade, get a key for middle box and there is another chick
POP - found it - it was the one in the straw hat thing !

What stars?? Do you get the star hint from the small box or do you use the star hint to open the small box.
It never fails: I find the answer after I post. Anyway, the star clue is on one of the candles.

Finding the place to dig was TRICKY, heh...(no it's not at the obvious place at the pile of snow that looks like a snowman that is no more)
I have ten chicks in a row in between the boots. Am I out or is there more?
no. mess with the coats and an exit door opens.
Once you're out, click on the chicks.
They wave to you. LOL
