I need one more ladder rung. Can't get yellow box with buttons on left side. Thought is was mushrooms but no combo working.
i kept pressing buttons until it opened

have red key, cant open bird cage
first u make ladder to reach the cage then only red key will works.

Rungs - Two in windows on barn. One with key, one without.
Ssssssssspoiler. Rungs. Here they are:
1. on flower in front.
2. in the haystack in the back
3. in the grey elevator
4. in the grey elevator
5. in the grey elevator, using the number you find on the left tree
6. behind the right barn-window
7. take key from behind the triangle-window on the barn,
use it to open another barn-window
8. on the left painting.
9. click the 4 yellow mushrooms and try to make sense of them.
click the buttons on the tree accordingly, from top to bottom:
the 3rd, 2nd, 4th and 1st.
10. below the hat of the scarecrow
Use the numbers on the flag and an orange mushroom to get into the barn.
The six 'wheel' pieces:
Get the electric drill and the hand drill (on the right painting) and use them on the barrels on the left and a sack on the right.
Use colours on right window on the small cupboard, let the colours of the painting on the left at the back wall flow smoothly from one into the other for a key. Use the key on the small cupboard.
Click a sack that you see on the small cupboard and take one from the left painting.
Place all six for the birdcagekey.
Build a ladder by using the saw on the fence for two long poles.
Free the bird.
lol, eh ... number 8 is inside the barn of course.
poles .. make that 'two long pieces of wood'. The north pole and south pole should stay in place.

I got all the way to end of game by myself and the key won't work on bird cage, even though my ladder is fully built. 1 star.
I had no trouble with the key working on the cage. The key is from the tire on the wall (gray pieces). The electric drill is a small green thing that you drill on one of the barrels on the left inside the barn.
5 stars (wish I could give more to make up for Maggies!)
2 stars poor, 4 button box with poor clue is only thing that held me up.
