I don't know what the characters stand for, but there are 2 variations of the middle one. Use the one with the bolder lines.

Batteries for the remote are in the safe and the tea cups above it.

click on top of lampshade to place lightbulb

both variations of the middle character have the same thickness I think. you need the one whose upper line is longer than the bottom one. btw characters stand for bushido.

Seems like it's only a mystery to me why none of the possible variations of 2/6/8 work on the blue puzzle lock...

That's why you should never interupt playing an escape game for 2 hours... you forget what you've discovered before the break...
