@Jay, find batteries in trash can - then you get 5 channels w/ pictures, & volume control. I seem to need another clue though - have everything but emperor doll
That's is where I'm at. The channels change and volume but that's all I got.
Yeah, that's where I've been sitting for a while. Even numbered channels are active; volume goes from 0 - 25. I need another clue to put it together.

for the 4 digit code box, there is a sneaky equation on the other side of display where you find the box...coordinate that with the remote at the tv display...a 4 digit code will show up in the upper left of the screen if done correctly...hint, start with channel 8
simply punch the buttons according to the equation...don't worry about the volume numers that show up...SPOILER for code, scroll down...

no problem, andrea...i was hooked on the volume numbers for a while...so frustrated i just punched the equation in and it worked...i was over thinking it.

you have to use the + and - of the volume control to complete the equation

Where do I find the clue to the letter box?
I give up. I've clicked everywhere "nearby" and can't find anything. It would be helpful to give better hints.

It's on a door
I-can-do-it - You-can-do-it - through.
Going right ...
- Open the balcony doors, click at the right side of the opening : flowers.
- Below the cloth, left at the puppets-scene on the floor : a box (4 numbers).
- On third step, turn the white character around, click him : white sake.
- Below the cloth, right at the puppets scene on the floor close to the arrow : numbers.
- The tv needs a remote control.
- The 5 doors can all be opened, but, in what order?
- In a blue trashbin : batteries + paper with number.
- In the drawerblock, low drawer : a doll.
- In the cabinet : paper lanterns.
- On the door a word.
- Below the couch : remote control. Turn it around, place the batteries.
- On the small table : a box, use the word from the door = crackers..
- On the table, at the bottom of the scene : the list.
- Place remote on tv, click tv.
Combine the numbers from the floor with the remote. So, click 8, +, 4, -, 6, +, 10 = number for the box = doll.
At this moment I'm thinking the girl ate the rice cake ... lol ... but noo, she's a Kindergartener ... but how to open those doors below tv ...
Everybody up here took all the rice cake, there's nothing left for me and those coming after me anymore ....

arrie, The piece of paper from the trash has the order to open the cupboard doors under the tele.
As I said clio_rose, you ate the cake. shame on you, go bake another one.
But, it's a matter of looking at it.
There are always two ways in these matters, and my brain was stuck on one.
- You can click: the second door, fourth, etc.
- Or you can start with the fifth door, then the first etc.
The last one is the right one.

sake from middle white priest on display stand. Peach flowers on the balcony. Lanterns in room left of kitchen. Empress in third drawer right of kitchen door. Rice crackers from word box. Sweet rice cakes from under tele. Emperor from number box.
I was hungry arrie, but i was very nice and left the sake for you.

The two hot spots on the two sides of the display are worse than awful. It took me a couple of tries to find them even when I knew they were there...
Ruined the whole game for me, sorry.

I think everyone's gone, but what do you do when you have everything? Can't seem to put them anywhere. Still says I can't go into the kitchen
Just found the table
My note says 51324. I open the 5th, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 4th door but nothing happens.
What am I missing?

it should work - you may try to leave scene, come back & try again
Bird, perhaps a silly question, but do you count the doors from left to right?
You start with the 5th door, the one on the right,
then click the 1st (= the left door)
then the 3rd etc.

Put everythinmg on the table at the bottom of rightmost scene, where is the list (thanks ArrieNL for mentioning that table, I was missing it)
That puzzle with the remote / numbers was sneaky!
