Need two wedges (or whatever they are) and hammer for the stone block. One of them is on the staircase to the right in the first view. Awful navigation in this.

I have a tin of paint and a brush, but don't know what wall to paint.

Light the wall sconce in the small room to give hint for star shapes near it. I think that's where the tin of paint was.
No mirror needed for the name LNS, just enter it as you know it!
clodagh,how did you enter the letter code? I tried it several times. "john" and "nhoj" don't work...

Oh, I just put john in and it worked. I wonder why it isn't doing it?
ok, I restarted the game and "john" works, buggy game...
stuck now with brush, unopened pain, large key and pot/cover

use paint tin on jug to the right...
Nails/wedges - one on staircase on right and one on the pink cabinet at the bottom of the stairs. Hammer from clock (clue from book in chest after key from mending picture in the little room). Use Nails one at a time on white rock and get name - john. I tried this all again just now and it worked. Get another key.
paint on pedestal in room to right then paint brush. use clue in that room first then downstairs.
Oh I don't know Evans - 'unopened pain' pretty much describes this game!
after opening the blue jug with the knife, you can't take the yellow things, but you can count the little dots on it for number code.
use paper from #'s on lamp above paint. got knife, opened jar and can't pick up what fell out.
