not getting anywhere; just keep clicking until voice comes and goes and then there are more stuff in the drawer.

Interesting idea but poor execution. Now stuck with empty inventory that won't close.

Still I haven't figured out how to trigger the texts.

Please don't tell me I just have to sit there and do nothing until they appear...

Drawer that won't close again is a bug, but I managed to circumvent it: blindly click black squares until you have taken out all three remaining items (blood-soaked booklet, paper, jacket). This will make 'Close drawer' reappear on the bottom. However, it took me 2 or 3 tries until it worked.

Red X from me. Idea has merit but having no idea how to trigger the next step gets old real quick.
