  1. I'm not good in English, never learned it, and therefore can't understand some puns (as well as idioms etc.). In the game was the question:

    How many letters in "vowels"?

The right answer was "five". Why? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that there are 5 vowels in English alphabet? But OK, that's not a fact either, because Y can also be a vowel. And in that case "vowels" would not be in the quotation marks. The question in the game means that we have to find the letters that fall inside of the quotation marks.

I can't find a logical explanation, so I'm convinced it's a pun. Could some English/American person reveal the secret?

  3. Yes, Lynn, that was my first thought, but I explained in my previous post why that couldn't be right.

  4. Punnivinn, Y doesn't count. While it's sometimes used as a wovel, in English alphabet it's still counted into consonant group.

I can understand your confusion... welcome to the wonderful world of English language :D

  5. Thanks for the poem link, The.Esc4per! I bet almost every language has this kind of things -- and that makes the languages alive. Esperanto has no exceptions, but if you can imagine a country where all the inhabitants speak only Esperanto, you can be sure that in 200 years there are already thousands of exceptions in the language.

About the game -- I still don't understand why the "vowels" were in quotation marks. Perhaps just a mistake?

  6. “Vowels” has six letters in it. Learn some basic grammar before coding the game! You should have asked “how many vowels in the alphabet?” Or something like that. Not “how many letters in ‘vowels’?” Since that is asking how many letters there are in the word vowels. Unbelievable smh
