could someone explain the hearts diamond clubs spade clue? that one has me totally baffled

Item highlighting seems opposite, black is unselected. Weird. Making progress again.
Each row of bedspread draws a number (or two) on the blue symbol board. Draw a line from 1st symbol to 2nd, to 3rd, to 4th. It draws a digit.
Upside down "ORANGE" clue highlighting doesn't work on drawer, hmmm.
Bottom drawer is the 8 diamond faces, not orange. Notice both + and - arithmetic symbols.
I don't get the card symbol compass points either. Must be missing another part of the clue.
The mountain path clue is for the locked cb next the 'orange' box. You need to unlock the door to reach it.
