ReplyDeleteThe equations in the puzzle look like one is the equation for a line. (y=mx+b) or in this case y=ax-b and the other seems to have parts of the quadratic, or at least it sounds familiar. The quadratic I believe was for an equation of the form x squared something ax something, you find the roots with -b + or - square root of 4ac + something all over 2a. Anyone make sense of the math? I sure didn't, been too long since school!

Then comes x. Only 1 number.
Then comes the key, 0 loop.
Then comes the last 6 because I am six (sick) of messing with that dang equation!
I've been doing the equation for an hour.. and it all brings to a very big fraction/decimal or the number 1.. in maths terms.. there's data missing, can someone please explain whats the word on the spray?

ReplyDeleteYou get the code by solving a system of equations, one red and one blue.
From y=ax-b you can get:
2=4a-b
5=5a-b
so a=3 and b=10
Plugging these into c=x*x-a*x+y you get c=4*4-3*4+2=6
Hope you can follow that

I thought because the trash can was blue, and you use the blue magnifyer? and the equation was blue, that you only used the blue numbers for x and y on that equation, and only the red numbers for the equation in red. Didn't think to use both on the first and subtract the equations to get an answer. Maybe the person should have written the equation in both colors in the trash. Might have helped. Oh, well.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I played again, and the equation is black surrounded by blue. Also though, the equation in the vent looks like it is saying x squared divided by ax plus y, not x squared minus ax plus y. Should have been written in a less confusing form. Other than that, (and the hidden items, I prefer visible ones) this game is a decent start.
