  1. ah geez Everyone's gone and I'm still stuck Where do we use the knife? Where do we fill the jug with water? And I got the gold key eventually but there's nothing in there???????

    ReplyDelete
  2. @balmycharmy - use the knife in C23 (I think it was on the padded wall on the right). The jug is filled in A21.

The gold key room is used right at the end for the coloured gems.

  8. Guys, you'r all asking a lot of things that are already posted in the comments.

    balmycharmy,
    This is what Graham wrote;
    - valves/yellow gem in A-17
    - got yellow gem from moving the valve on the water pipe - it is oppposite from clue given.

    fab,
    This is what I wrote;
At the last page of the book is what letter is what number, use that in combination with the word (after you anagrammed it) on the preface page.

And in another post somewhere there you can find the anagrammed word is 'daydream'

  9. Ah thank you s-t Sorry ~ I tried going back reading all the comments but couldn't find them

  10. People are speaking of a magic wand ?! I'm going to read the comments again...

    ReplyDelete
  11. Obviously, I need a 8 digit code, first... No hint for this one.

    ReplyDelete
  12. To search the comments easier you can use Ctrl F and then use a key word (like Yellow, if you're looking for a yellow gem).
In Internet Explorer that is, but I'm sure other browsers have something likewise.

  22. fab,
If I remember correctly, the only place you use the crowbar is in room A-5 to get the silver key.
But not sure anymore if I used the crowbar somewhere else, but I think not.

    ReplyDelete
  23. how do you go to your saved game? i've noticed that if you come back the next day, your game is not saved, unless i'm overlooking something. would love to go back to where i was!!!!!! any help, please?!

Well, I'm pretty sure I used the crowbar to get it.
Maybe srewdriver and crowbar can be used both there.
    Anyway, have to go.
    Good luck guys.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ah, found an unflipped lever in A26, which released the green gem. Finally out! Enjoyable game, but too long/big overall.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Pascale, you have to collect all the gems first, then once you have them, the spots to place them will appear in D26.

    ReplyDelete
  44. designerbooks - I think there are 4 levers - have you pulled them all
(where elevator is, A30, 3 right from A7 and one up and one right from A18 (sorry closed the map)

  48. Pascal for
the 8 digit code you need the book
the A am ed dry make an anagramm
then you have to convert according the clue
a = 1, etc. also in the book
this gives you an 8 digit code

if you want - I give you more help

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thank you SwissMiss... but which book ?

  57. Please help me, can`t find the blue key and a clue for the box with the moon.
    Sorry for my bad english.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Best SD game yet! I went my own pace after everyone else finished and searched through comments when I got stuck. I also liked having a use for orbs and that the trajectory of the game somewhat depended on what was purchased first.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Heinzi,

The clue for the moon star etc. box is in room C1.
To get in room C1 you need the blue key.

The blue key you get by clicking the books in room C16.
    Click them in this order:
    A20
    E20
    C30
    G40
    B50
    D60
    F70
And you'll get the blue key.

  60. OMG! I MADE IT!! I did it!! And I couldn't have done it without all the comments!! Congrats to everyone and HUGE THANX to Self Defiant!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. So Small Tool - are you doing the Walkthrough ;)?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Rachel,
I'm afraid not. Don't like to write walkthroughs for games that already have a video-walkthrough.
And besides that, all the information is already(multiple times for some things even) in the comments.
But who knows, maybe tomorrow but certainly not today.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Whooee!! Finally made it through. Somewhere around the 2 hour mark, I got stuck and had to start reading the comments. There were a couple puzzles I couldn't have solved without your help. Thanks everyone!!
And thanks @Selfdefiant. I couldn't play one like that every day, but it was excellent!

    ReplyDelete
  64. This has GOT to be one of the GREATEST Selfdefient games that has EVER came out....
I BOW to the creater, you are a true insperation...:)

    ReplyDelete
  65. HeeHee Small tool! I reckon there's more than enough clues within the comments, you're right!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Not a Walkthrough (like @small-tool and others have said, there's already a video WT) but some information I hope it will prove helpful to have in one spot.

This is a huge game, but well worth the time, imho. There are probably almost as many different ways to do things as there are players. Nothing here is carved in stone, and the author takes no responsibility for anything! It’s just my advice, so take it or leave it ;o)

    First things first:
Go up, then directly left, then up again: open elevator, take Sacred Jar. Now you can begin collecting purple orbs, which you will need if you want to purchase a Map or other items.
I like to have a Map, so the first thing I did after getting the Sacred Jar was collect 25 orbs. I’m sure I missed some orbs, but this is what I did:
    2 from elevator room.
    3 from hallway just below
3 from central spot with wheelchair where you can go in five different directions
2 from first room to the right (with tall columns)
2 from next room to the right (with scaffolding)
3 from farthest right room (with machinery and lever on wall)
    - - Back to central spot with wheelchair (which we’ll see later is room A7) then down to start screen - -
    2 in start screen hallway
1 room to right with fireplace
3 in next room on right (big mess!)
3 on farthest right room with file cabinets
    - - Just need one more! Back to A7 and then up to the left. - -
    3 in hallway

Now you can go all the way back to the start screen and then left, where @Selfdefiant is in disguise and will sell you a map. Have a look at the map. Once you’re able to get up off the floor and collect yourself, it’s time to go explore!

You will need a lamp later, which will cost you 50 orbs, but I decided to get the map first. The Crystal Ball is a life saver, since it allows you to jump from one room to the next, but I waited until I had the lamp because the lamp allows you to go to the C level.

Later, I’ll list locations of important items.

    ReplyDelete
  67. See you in three days LOL - have fun!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I finally was able to do this one. Took me 2 hours, but I did it. From now on I'm not using the in-game note pad. You can only draw and there should be a selectable eraser instead of a "clear" button. 3 times I lost all of my notes and had to go room by room again. Not whining, just saying I've learned my lesson lol. In a game with this many rooms loosing your notes is very frustrating.

@SD Thank you for the game! This one was tough and huge! I liked using the orbs to buy what we needed. You continue to impress. No better time-kill than an epic SD escape game.

  72. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Selfdefiant!
    =D
You are the Man Who Delivers As Promised =D
The game's post image is gorgeous, and that is the door to an adventure and a half.
I filled 5 A4 sheets with my game "journal" and clues, so I didn't need the scroll [I'm a cheapskate], and was almost unnerved by all the empty rooms, but they added to the atmosphere and it was always fun mouseing over every bit of them to search for clickable areas.
I didn't get out without looking through comments for the blue key [thank you, jon], but still feel quite good that I managed the rest by myself - taking over 3 hours in the end =)
I did miss the "long pliers" tag, which I'm ashamed of [unless you've changed it now], but I have noticed your strange fascination for having us players delve into toilets - hm! And the mucky screwdriver was taking that just one step further. Dirty boy! =)
But again, beautiful mega-game, thank you =D

    To small-tool and zoz:
I probably don't need to remind you that there are people out here, like me, with teensy little dinosaur computers who can't use video walkthroughs. Even if I could, [slow broadband speed too] I only get 4fps, [frames per second] so they are like slideshows, only with huge chunks missing.
Even though I didn't need it, there will be others who will, so thank you zoz for your not-a-walkthrough =), and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of it[ which you may have completed by the time I get this posted =) =) =)

  85. WOW - Zoz - thank you for this great work - it will be a big help to lot of players who come in late.

I had to have help with the blue key and where to find the wand and had to stroll through all the comments to find the answers!

    zoz - Number 1 - not-walkthrough-writer!!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. I reloaded the game today and... all my inventory is gone, except the map and the thing to collect orbs ! No more tools, no more travel orb, no more gems !!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Need help please room D21

    ReplyDelete
  88. The auto Save feature is apparently not working; at least it hasn't worked for me. So, unfortunately, you need to either keep the game open until you're done or take good notes so you can catch up to where you were when you quit.
That's the only bug I've found. Not bad for a game with a zillion parameters!

Oh, and room D24 has 2 orbs, not one as I wrote above. I think there was another room I made a mistake on; anyway, it all adds up to 200 orbs total in the end!

  89. Need help please room D21

  91. Looks like it took a long time to make. It looks pretty nice. I don't think I'm going to continue playing it. Its a little boring in my opinion, but I respect the obvious time and detail that went into it.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Great game as always SD. Thanks for putting the time into making it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. stuck on the glass stained window, please help!

    ReplyDelete
  94. mariagrazia,
You need the wand to change the arrows.
    If you have the wand you have to change the arrows into this;

    down - up - down
    up - down - up.

The hint for that was in the book (if I remember correctly).

  95. For anyone who would see that comment:Thank you all for your comments, couldnt escape without you (played later).Thank you zoz,you are a hero!It was a huge game but very interesting, indeed!Thank you Selfdefiant!

  97. I am soooooo tired right now. Been working the circus (feeding the school children) all week. - 2 more days to go... Every waking moment that I'm not working has been spent on this game. My son has gotten chocolate bars, chips & Chef Boyardee dinners (he's had to make them himself) - I know I'm going to some kind of hell for that! But... I can now proudly declare ouT! (My computer also hates me for not shutting down or allowing any updates whatsoever)

We need a SelfDefiantAddictsRUs Group - I'd proudly be the first one to sign up!!!

    ReplyDelete
  98. michjean - yep - why not create a SelfDefiant-Blog
with links to all his games and with the Walkthroughs, the Orb-throughs and the funny comments!

  99. Thank you, Self-Defiant, thank you to all who posted hints - and thank you to zoz for a MAGNIFICENT not-a-walk-through. I finally made it through to the end. Now I am going to lie down - feel like I have walked for miles LOL.

Certainly I will have to return to your comments soon but so far I have done fine :-)
Thank you, Selfdefiant, I hope this game will not be the end of all games. I keep clicking in the same places in the different pictures (remembering them all when seeing them) from previuous games LOL

    ReplyDelete
  110. Sorry you couldn't find it @Shraddha; it was in the "Where to Find Things - D Level" section above ( "Matches: D1 (must move Stove Covers to find them"). I guess it got a bit buried with everything else there.

  111. 3 days later... still have my hair, although tis much more thinned... bags under my eyes... comp shut down due to poor internet connection; had to leave several times to run errands; forgot where I was; grandkids and kids needing attention; made bean burritos, chef boy ar dee raviolis; and other very quick meals for everyone; dog had to wait much longer to be walked (poor thing). Love this game! Just wish there would have been a 'save' feature so I could come back without losing my place. Have I brushed my teeth in 3 days? I think so... Restarted game 5 times. Thus, with all these symptoms, I believe I will fit in the SeDARU group. Hello Everyone! My name is Anita and I am a SeDARU addict!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  112. Hey, people, I think SeDARU already has a home!
I was waffling around, trying to find out who made the beautiful image for the game's post, and noticed a whole blog on the Melting Minds site!

    http://melting-mindz.blogspot.com/

There are 3 followers who I don't recognise, but there is one single comment in the 'welcome' first post - and it's alkmar!
She has the whole place to herself =D
I'm not sure how "therapeutic" it would be for us addicts, and let's face it, none of us wants to be "cured", but it's an exclusive area with virtual curtains round to protect us from the "outside world". =)
    Just thought I'd mention. =D =D

    ReplyDelete
  113. LOL guys I'm joining SeDARU as well, 'cause it's become quite clear I'm a SedARUholic!

    ReplyDelete
  114. superb game! I loved it. :D

Out with help -- thanks for the comments and especially the help-through, zoz! I missed the double use of the books, where to use the knife, the joker, and how to solve the spider puzzle.

    ReplyDelete
  115. By the way, I normally use the menu button to get out of a Selfdefiant game, which does work the save feature, but I haven't seen one there for the last couple of games, although there is a black button shape where it used to be.
Is it really not there, or has my pc blocked it somehow?
    Anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  116. @Rookwings I didn't have the menu button either -- which I use like a pause button when I need to take a break

    ReplyDelete
  117. Well I've got to admit that was quite cool.

Can't wait 'til I've finished my degree so that I can properly join in live again :o)

    ReplyDelete
  118. One more day to go (feeding the children - Friday count over 650). Just thought I'd pop in 'cause the comments went up pretty fast (thought there was something I had missed)...

I, too, did not have the ability to pause or a save feature. As I posted, my computer hates me.. I had 3 updates and 3 new versions of apps when I set the comp back to taking care of itself (currently working through a few glitches). And I was a pretty cold camper as I needed a fan just to make sure the bloody laptop didn't overheat. I would definitely suggest a SAVE button for all future games of this magnitude. @_@ (I'm smiling as much as my tired face will allow)

    ReplyDelete
  119. @ kitkatfox and michjean:
Thank you for replying so quickly =)
Now at least I know I'm not going mad [although the jury's still out on that one] =)
So, I'm off to play the new Selfdefiant game then =D

    @ michjean:
"only feeding the children one more day?" I had to chuckle at that.
What happens after that, they hatch into adults?
they don't need food ever again?
I'm guessing, really, that they are not all your offspring. I still feed my children occasionally, even though they all have children of their own now =)

    ReplyDelete
  120. @ Selfdefiant: I too have to comment on the (does not) "save" feature. I eagerly spent two hours confident that I could come back to where I left off. It's a dissapointment that a game of this size cannot be saved, but a travesty that we are led to believe it will when it won't.

    ReplyDelete
  121. @MuckyPuppy it did save for me.

It reloaded correctly when I went back on the browser tab after accidentally hit one of my bookmarks on my tab bar.

I didn't try starting the game again after closing my browser window, though.

    ReplyDelete
  122. AAggh, I left the game open last night, but it's gone now!
Apparently my computer decided to restart after installing updates last night. And now I have to start all over again :(

Great game btw @SelfDefiant! And a tough one too.
but I might peek a little at zoz's brilliant Help-through this time :P

    ReplyDelete
  123. (sneaks in to wave Hi to Truus.

That's terrible that you have to start over. :(

And now off to bed---yawning yawning yawning)

    ReplyDelete
  124. Hi @kitkatfox!!!!!
The game is very good, so starting over is ok.
    Sweet dreams :))

    ReplyDelete
  125. Thanks everyone for such nice comments! All of my games save without the player doing anything. I think what has happened is that some people don't have the setting right for Flash player. It is supposed to ask you to save local data but with things changing so frequently, I don't know if it is. All you do is right click in a flash and then click settings, and then the little folder at the bottom of the pop up. This is local storage, it will ask "How much storage can "Melting-Mindz.com" store on your computer? You have to allow at least 1MB which isn't much. Then you have no worries. I will add the menu button back though. Also make sure you have the up to date version of Flash player.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Thanks @SelfDefiant, normally my games will autosave. I remember I also installed a Flash Player update, maybe that's the reason why it didn't save this time?? Don't know though.
Anyways, I wouldn't call it a "nightmare" but a great game instead!

    Thanks @zoz, you've been a great help!
Although I have to make a teeny little correction on the Arrows puzzle : the third one should be green up, not down.
Still, you did a great job!!!
Without your help, I probably would have called it a nightmare :)

    ReplyDelete
  127. Can anyone tell me why autosave for this game doesn't work. Every time I quit the game I have to start all over again.
By the way... this is my first comment!!!

    ReplyDelete
  128. http://www.melting-mindz.com/save_my_game.php
    This guide will help you!

    ReplyDelete
  129. Correction!

Thank You @Truus!! My bad on the Arrows Puzzle. According to my notes it should be:
    1. Y Down, R Down, G Up
    2. Y Up, R Up, B Down
    3. G Up, Y Down, R Down

Thanks for catching that. I'm sure it's not the only mistake I made, so please, everyone, point out any other errors!

Now off to play the newest Selfdefiant (because I'm a member of SeDARU, after all).

    ReplyDelete
  130. Loved this. thanks so much SD. Amazing! Three days on and off to complete. couldnt have done it without all your comments everybody. thanks a million. Looking forward to more

@Selfdefiant Thank You for this fantastic game!

  132. Selfdefiant,
another holy cow's big «MOOCHAS GRASSIAS!» for this awesome marathon of game.
As I already knew all the rooms from your last games, I only had to buy the map to be able to move faster with the crystal. Otherwise I can trust blindly my indian orientation sence...

... and certainly big hugs to all co-players and your helpfull comments, letting me moving forward at the right time without letting my patience be overloaded ;-D

    ReplyDelete
  134. Still can't figure out the door with the 8 digit number puzzle. I took the words from the book - A AM ED DRY and used the numbers from the back of the book for each letter - 11454497 - but that does not work. What am I doing wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Nevermind lol. I should read the last page of comments here before I ask for help.
    I'm out.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Well...my two cents. I saw this game when it first came out and had to wait until I had a few hours of spare time - finally found them today!

SD - if you ever come back to read the comments I want to add my sincere gratitude for all the time and effort you took with this one! I got to page 2 of the comments and then got out with all the help of my fellow players!! This was truly a genius of a game!! I have to say it: How can you possibly top this one?!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  137. I will! You will see! Thanks, I really appreciate your nice comments!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I guess that I'm the last who ended the game... I've been playing for a week, a few minutes every day... Unfortunatelly the greatest game, caught me in season that I had no spare time at all, but still, I m out finally!
Zoz, thanks for information, every time I was in, I had forgottern where I was...

    ReplyDelete
  139. Psssst! @Selfdefiant! Please tell me when you're going to post your next epic game so I can arrange to be online at that moment. Just whisper. I won't tell anyone!

    ReplyDelete
  140. Hi!! Is there any TEXT WALKTHROUGH or any people who wants to write one out there? The video walkthrough has a so silly and bad quality that it's impossible to understand the mayority of the solutions of the codes. So: A TEXT WALKTHROUGH IS A MUST!!!

  155. Uh...help with B10 puzzle?

    ReplyDelete
  156. This is an interesting game. Except I don't like the writing scroll. You have to manually write all your notes, which is a nuisance. I liked it better when you could just type in your notes.
