First?? Happy New Year, All!
ReplyDeleteChopsticks behind bed
ReplyDeleteTake stacking toy from shelf. Look at it closely. Remove orange top. Then zoom in on top and break it into pieces.
ReplyDeleteHmm. Everyone else still must be celebrating. Stuck at code on closet.
ReplyDeleteAll alone here and still stuck.... Guess I'll watch some fireworks. It's New Years!
ReplyDeleteStuck trying to combine clock colors, dates and TV channel clues on closet door. Desperately need help.
ReplyDeleteHi Bob and stacy - here too - but I think we have a language problem
ReplyDeletegot cup of sorts, chopsticks, and orange stuff from broken toy
Well, I opened the coset, but now stuck with ice cream can (?), chopsticks, orange skins and a kite.
ReplyDeleteFor the closet, use the info from channel 1 on TV and the colors both in calender and clock.
Yay!! The experts are here? Any clue for getting into the closet?
ReplyDeleteOops! The experts are here!!! not question mark.
ReplyDeletenot at all - there is the tv hint and colors correspond with clock - so I assume that should solve the closet - the calender I dont know either!
ReplyDeletelol - certainly no experts !
ReplyDeleteyou have a date on tv, dont you @sm?
ReplyDeletedate ?- I have japanese writing and times
ReplyDeletesorry - yes I have a date too
ReplyDeleteI know you do! ;)
ReplyDeletenope - doesnt help - still no clue
ReplyDeletetheo - if you solved the closet then some help would be appreciated
ReplyDeleteI have helped @sm, even when not appreciated. A hint can be enough and more appreciated for other solvers, when you might prefer a spoiler instead.
ReplyDeleteThe date is 1月4日(水) = Jan, 4th (Wed), so go to the calender and take take the color of the month (blue), the circle around the day (orange) and the color of the Wednesday character (black)
Do you need extra help with the time also?
OK. Thanks to Theo, we know the clue is on Ch. 1. Use the colors from the calendar for the first three colors; then colors from the clock for the last 2 colors.
ReplyDeleteStart with star, then dark blu, orange, black, green dark blue
My point exactly! Bob and Stacy only needed the hint, and sure enough the satisfaction and appreciation is way bigger for her/his/them. :D
ReplyDeleteSorry, Theo. I'm not refreshing fast enough. Didn't see your better answer.
ReplyDeleteThank you Theo !!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletehello
ReplyDeleteHappy New year to all of you!
Hello Megi :)
ReplyDeletehappy new year to you too
Elated to get into the closet, but clicking madly to combine items/use them anywhere. Just as stuck as I was before. :[
ReplyDeleteHello everybody, Happy New Year..
ReplyDeleteyou have to turn the "stove" (heater) - click the buttn on right side of it
ReplyDeleteStuck with open closet.
ReplyDeleteand there is a paper in upper drawer - "read" it - both sides
ReplyDeleteMegi how to read?
ReplyDeleteI give up on this - too pixely - cant get to right side of heater - paper is in japanese
ReplyDeletegood luck with this one !
Stuck with heater switch
ReplyDeleteZoran just click it - both sides
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletewe can see heater button after "reading" paper in the drawer
ReplyDeleteI so both side, but nothing happen. I can't switch ON and I have, kite, chopstick, three pieces of orange and cup of soup?????
ReplyDeleteGo figure. Tried one last time and found the switch pixel. Put your mouse on the little black square on the lower right front of the heater. Then, move your moust to the right just off the edge of the heater and click there.
ReplyDeleteBob thanks
ReplyDeleteI seem to have eaten the orange slices...

ReplyDeleteOk, got it, found a key under yellow cup thanks (click first on stove but not sure)
ReplyDeleteGot to go folks. New Year party to attend. Good luck! Remember 2 keys needed.
ReplyDeleteHNY everyone!
ReplyDelete@Theo
I think this needs some additional explanation, that's why I'm going to speak up now...
I too prefer a hint to a spoiler BUT ... please do not compare apples to oranges.
This is a game with an obvious LANGUAGE BARRIER.
So we should name the rule "no spoilers *if it can be avoided*".
Because that's what it says: if it cannot be avoided - i.e. due to language barrier - DO SPOIL and don't think anyone will complain.
With non-japanese games, DO NOT SPOIL unless you really have a reason to do so, or you are asked to.
Apples <> Oranges
Where is the paper? I've looked in the desk drawers as well as the closet dresser drawers.
ReplyDelete:) it's in one of the upper drawers. You have to click the top section of each drawer and with one wou will get a sort of hidden view.
ReplyDelete'you' even
ReplyDelete@arbeitslooser, i totally disagree.
ReplyDeleteI dont know Japanese and I dont think Bob and Stacy does either. I could solve the closet and so did they with only the hint. No language barrier, at least at this point. No matter the difficulty of the game, you should always first and spoil later if needed.
But again, it feels like some players should stick on gamershoods and ainars...
*always HINT first
ReplyDelete@Theo, thank you! I totally agree, and I solved the cupboard using your first hint only :)
ReplyDelete@arbeitslooser, we can't make general rules like that. A hint is always a good thing as a start. As Theo says, in this case, there was no big language barrier after the first hint was given.
Spoil or hint? No rules. Everyone decides on their own. The only important thing should be to answer to questions, no matter in what way, and to give more help if needed.
too much pixeling... not a good way to start the year :(
ReplyDeletegot key from soup. what do I do with it? doesn't work for door?
ReplyDelete@Britta
ReplyDeletetricky one I know.
HINT --- examine WINDOW *thoroughly*
good grief how do you "eat" the soup? kettle is boiling but cant combine with cup.
ReplyDeleteI've "read" the paper and still can't find the secret heater button. Either there's another step to it, or it's just too pixelly. Either way, no fun anymore.
ReplyDeleteevans: it's STUPID
ReplyDeletePlease don't ask me why, but you have to eat the citrus fruit (orange or tangerine) first before the kettle stuff works. Found it out by trial 'n error
with key under yellow box click on window (but not opened)
ReplyDeletethen click with kite on window and examine kite to find door key
If I remember well for yellow box just click with it on the steam of the kettle and used chopsticks on box and I can return box to find key
ReplyDeleteto "read" paper in drawer, click 2x on it (2 differents japanese writing to see)
ReplyDeleteWhether or not to post spoilers is, imho, a trivial thing to argue about.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want spoilers - don't read them.
If you want help (either hints or answers) - just ask.
But for heaven's sake, let's just remember that these are only games and that what makes EG24 superior to other sites is the feeling of community and mutual respect that is demonstrated by those who comment.
And that's my 2 cents.
I hope everyone has a fantastic and healthy and prosperous New Year!
@zoz I have to agree, the tone on here is far less "uneducated" and/or "texting lingo" than in other forumzzzzzz.
ReplyDeleteThiz iz a reason 2 be prouD uPoN!
innit m8z?
;-P
January Escape Walkthrough PART 1
ReplyDelete- Click light blue button to begin.
- Click just to the left of the bed to find chopsticks.
- Click the stove. Great. It doesn't work. There's a secret button on the right side. But you can't see it or click on it. Believe me, I'm looking at it right now. It's there for me. Just not for you. Welcome to the hell that is January Escape.
Click the green pillow. It doesn't lift. This is a bad omen. In classy escape games, the pillow lifts. And it waits in mid-air until another object is clicked. Most preferably another pillow.
- Go left. Get the white layer cake.
- Examine the cake, get the orange off the top.
- Examine the orange, eat it, and behold the remains. You can't eat the leftovers, but believe me, you'll be hungry enough to eat them later.
- Look at that calendar. What a mess. Colored arrows pointing in different directions, and colored circles and numbers and characters everywhere. Ignore.
- Open the top desk drawer. It's empty. Better move along. But wait. Don't be fooled. It only looks empty. There's an invisible paper in there. Trust me. To find it, you have to click the top of the drawer. Oh, the paper is blank. Never mind. But wait. Maybe... just maybe... it only appears blank. Click the middle of it to make some invisible writing appear. Oh, I think it's Japanese. Never mind, time to move along. But wait. There's more hidden writing on the paper, but to see it you must click the right side of the drawer. Oh, just more Japanese. But wait. Is there something else hidden in here? Very, very carefully clicking every pixel of the screen will reveal that no, there isn't anything else here. Just one plain old invisible 3-sided Japanese paper. Time to move along.
- Open the bottom drawer and take out a pot of noodles. That was easy... almost TOO easy.
- Moving left we find the obligatory locked door, and, to the left, a locked closet. Don't even bother trying the code- it's got 2.6 million possible combinations. There must be something very, very valuable inside. Let's go relax our brains with some TV.
January Escape PART 2
ReplyDelete- Oh dear. Every channel has the same show, but with different colors and different Japanese text and random numbers. This is, of course, the key to cracking the closet code. Remember seeing a number 1 on the paper? That must have told you that you can ignore all the other channels but #1. Obviously. The 1st part of the code is a star shape. Next is a 1 and a 4 which always mean only one thing to me: "January the fourth." Go back to the calendar and you'll notice the month, January, is written in blue, while, ignoring the blue arrows, the black 4 is circled in orange ink, indicating that... Oh, never mind. It's star, dark blue, orange, black, dark green, dark blue. All that work for a kite.
- Step left. Look at the clock if you like, but we already used it in the closet code. You see, the 30 on the TV actually meant 6. And the 19 didn't mean 19. It meant 7.
- While we're here, have a peek under the bed. You're not going to believe what you find there, so I won't spoil it by telling you. Then exit this hateful view.
- Go left. Now you have the game's permission to click on the stove's secret button. It's just beside the bottom right corner of the stove. Click it, and fire up the stove.
- Ahh. Time to cook some noodles! But let's not be too hasty. All this escaping has made you hungry for a handful of orange peelings. True, you couldn't force them down earlier, but you are now compelled to eat orange rinds or your noodles will not cook.
- Click the noodle pot, then the kettle. You'll hear the water pour cheerily into the pot. Unless you're not using sound. Then you'd have no idea the kettle did anything to the noodle pot.
- Slurp down the noodles with your chopsticks. Look under the pot- there's a key! It was there the whole time, but you couldn't flip the pot over. Way back then it was somehow just too cold... too dry... but this is now.
- Use the key to unlock the window. If you have sound. Otherwise it will appear to have done nothing and you'll try it on every other object in the room before rage quitting.
- But you are using sound, so it's now time for some kite wiping action. Yes, you're going to wipe your kite against that sweet unlocked window. Mmmm, yeah. Now look at your kite. You've wiped something off the window- a heretofore invisible key!
- Use the key on the door and escape the well-stocked heated cabin, charging randomly into the snowstorm. Make sure you leave the stove burning so your former prison will be reduced to embers before it claims its next victim.
Oh my. This was a hideous experience!!!
