You can do this puzzle in only a few moves once you have worked out the "preferred destination" for each button you click on.

At that the paper disappears - either a very simple clue or one I don't understand.
I guess I must have found something behind the plant pot that moved inside the house early on. Kept trying to get something from it, but I've just escaped without doing so.
