some stuff I noticed on the go (before the VWT arrives - there's a written one but I won't use it as a matter of honour 😇):
ReplyDelete- no direction arrows, just follow the descriptions
clicking glass several times will do
ReplyDeleteah, there are 2 different corridors
ReplyDeleteah, check books again (changed text)
ReplyDeletehm. apart from the glass I can't take anything else...
ReplyDeleteok... checked all places again (exit door text changed) & now I could take knife & stool (in such a case you may think that the game is buggy...)
Deletecables from TV for kettle
ReplyDeleteplace stool beside the table (not on it) to reach attic
ReplyDeleteuse knife on couch (pills)
ReplyDelete& (strangely) also on plant (key)
Deleteuse knife in the plantpot in the living room for a key
ReplyDeleteby my attempts to find any (more) logic 😜 & obsessive clicking:
ReplyDeleteplace glass with hot water on corridor table & use pills beside it (not on the glass)
& now the basement trapdoor is open...
DeleteOMG I'm trapped❗ 😲
Deletecontinue clicking on yourself & evtly use knife
ReplyDeletegirl has exit key
ReplyDeletehm. missed the option to combo stuff (although often challenging bc illogical in the previous games...)
ReplyDeleteMany people complained that crafting was too difficult. This time I experimented by making the game without crafting. In future parts I might improve my adventure game engine and add some mini games like assembling pictures or something similar.
Deletethx BG for the info & for providing us (addicted 😉) players with your creations (I like the graphics 🙂)
DeleteOut! Although a lot of this did not make sense, dacapo gave good advice to keep clicking and reclicking.
ReplyDeleteOn one website, the game received a lot of negative reviews. Although I tried my best, it didn't perform well. I'm not talking about the AI. This time, I added a lot of story, with the main character engaging in dialogue, and you can also read a lot about various objects in the environment. Maybe the English language is the problem? Previously, the game involved collecting items and using them in various places, with virtually no reading involved. Perhaps such games are more accessible? Maybe I'm stupid, but I really don't understand what's wrong with this game? Can someone explain it to me?
ReplyDeletemy 2 cents:
Delete- I noticed that the tone in comments (eg on YT) unfortunately has become pretty much more aggressive than in the past (eg just negative critisism & without a constructive proposition of a possible solution or the like) - there are ppl who always think they know it better - this reveals more about the author than about you & it's better not to take it personally but to see it from a more positive side (I know that's often quite a challenge... 🤪) & for your game improvement - even the best 1Aquality game can have ppl that critisize the one thing or the other - you can't please everyone
- there's nothing wrong with your game, BG, keep up making your nice creations❗ being a game dev is an ongoing evolutionary process (speaking of experience 😇) - therefore there's always some room for improvement, eg (as I already mentionned above) if you can take a tool only after making some actions the player may think that the game is buggy (even if you clearly say that you'll need the tool later - the player d/like to come back just to realise that she/he still can't take the tool - mayhaps a message like «check kitchen again» or the like after unlocking the tool would be helpful)
- I d/mind the continuous reclicking to get more info - it's your own unique style, just keep it 🙂 (players have to get used to, as most of other escape games d/have such a feature - knowing your style will do)
- I like story driven games - although I know that loads of players d/want to read (too) much (lazybones 😜) - it wasn't too much in your game IMO & it was quite thrilling, esp the surprising outcome (& no prob with the English - even games in Japanese where you understand zilch if you d/speak the language are playable 😉)
I wish you all the best & I'm looking forward to playing your next creation.
I love adventure games with dialog. This game did not disappoint. I did have to play on windows 10, as windows 7 did not support it. perfectly playable w/o a mouse. Good job.
