This is a story about alex's mother and her just coming home from the hospital. She has been in a coma for over 8 months so has missed out on what has happened in the world. She asks him to get her something to eat and some pickles but wants the certain kind. She also is wanting to watch the news but alex and his sister don't want her to get upset by seeing what is in the news so alex calls his friend to help. He brings over a tape and so you have to plug in the vcr so the tape can play when alex turns on the tv for his mom. I hope this helps a bit. I didn't have any problem going through the game at all
This game is in reference to the film Goodbye Lenin. It's based in 1989 in the eastern (soviet) part of germany. Alex's mother who is a fervant communist, has a fit when she sees her son rioting with other youths to kick out russians and réunificate with the western part of germany. When she wakes up 8 months later, the wall has fallen, but the doctor tells Alex and his sister that if she has any kind of strong emotion, she might have another fit and die. Therefore, Alex decides that she should learn of the réunification. This is why him and his friend make a phoney video of the news. The pickles are only done in ex USSR but you could only find those. When the wall falls, you can't find them anymore.
It's a great film if any of you are tempted.
Erm, little mistake there. Alex obvioulsy DOESN'T want his mother to learn about the reunification...
Therefore read : "Ales decides that she shoudn't learn about reunification."
