The items you collect are listed in a box on the right hand side, but they are listed with WORDS, not pictures. There is absolutely no way to do this game unless you can read and understand Japanese.

It is possible, btw, by paying careful attention to the words that appear when you pick up objects, to learn by experience what they are, and avoid using the wrong thing at the wrong time.
