IF (not always a safe assumption in these puzzles) key 1 is based on meanings of the characters, I have the following (using nciku):

朝 = morning OR dynasty/epoch/age
里 = neighbourhood/village/countryside/one's origins OR a unit of distance or area

鳥 = bird/chicken meat/poultry
陸 = land/shore
and
森 = forest
