You can talk to the people. I bought a carrot and a cucumber from the farmer boy.

moved a stone (for what) where the frog is - stuck with rope an axe and 50 $
I think you did cut the rope with the axe to free the dig-pig... ;-)
We need 80 $ (!!) for the geisha! I have 20$ after buying the useless vegetables.
Can't do anything to the pig with axe or rope. Can't understand any conversation. Can't buy food. I'm a failure!!!
blown 50$ on a carrot and a cucumber wow - very expensive - moved the flowers in front of house - but stuck now
granmaj - you can buy the vegi - start a dialogue and then there is a word in a box - I think it might mean "buy" click it and the veggies are yours
Ah! Progress! Put the cucumber into the river in the picture where the stump is, and then the frog is gone. A new area!

give the horse to the samurai in new scene and you can get further on
in the well is a funny looking thing and more money - up to 40 again
Weird, the girl by the birds is gone and I've got some seeds (???) in my inventory.

Got the horse too. I swear I tried it a thousand times before, but it seems that it is simply giving the horse the carrot. Following you, Swissmiss.

In the well is a gun, put the 'seeds' in the gun and you'll get a 'pearl' (??).
put the 'seeds' into the thing you found in the well and use that on the birds
strange got the seed as well
It was such a click and hope something happens affair
but the rope is used at the well for a gun type thing
which you load with love pellets that the birds use and
you get the pearl....as for the carrot, meh

Got a lot of things and done a lot of things exactly the same way as KatesKat said: click and hope!
I payed the 'geisha' and got three balls on a stick, got a shovel and a squirrel (??) too.
this is getting rediculous - then the pig flies and you can dig out a squirrel underneeth
finally found the 80$ and got the icecream from the lady- there is 10$ where the stump of tree is - cut grass
i am now broke with a squirrel, shovel, axe and icecream

Granmaj: I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that I have to tell you that I don't know that exactly. I left the game for a while, and when I came back the bird girl was gone and I had teh seeds. Maybe SwissMiss can help.

gave the ice cream to the girl on the bench (after a lot of clicking); got a flower; gave that to the old lady near well and got some nuts... Gave them to the squirrel and used the squirrel on the dragon...

Hello all ! I'm at the same point as you granmaj; The girl is there and I can't find seeds :(
Oh I have seeds ! in pots of flower of in girl's flower ...
Just came back and saw your comment, @Gazoline. Can you explain a little more how you got the seeds, please?
@granmaj - I clicked all over the scene with the girl/birds then went up. When I came back down the girl was gone and I had the seeds. Don't know if that helps at all.
Click on the top bird, bottom bird and then the girl. That worked for me.
WALKTHROUGH:
go right 4 times and up: collect AXE
use axe to cut grass to find $10
go up and cut the rope to set the pig free (also cut grass to find $20 more)
Go all the way down and find $10 under flowers
Go up and click trees; click monkey and then use axe to get ROPE
Go left 2 times. Then go up and remove rock to find another $10...
Go down and talk to farmer; buy FRUITS for $50
Go right 2 times and up once: throw CUCUMBER in water... (knocks frog off rock)
Go all the way right and use axe on grass under sign to get $10
Go down once: collect $10
Click fence and go right: give carrot to horse and collect the horse...
Now go to where the frog was and go up; cut grasses and collect $20
Go up again and use horse on man blocking the entrance
Go in and use rope on well to find $10 and a GUN
Go all the way down, 2 times right and then down...
Talk to the woman and she leaves; collect another $10
Go back to the well and collect SEEDS.
Select gun and put seeds in; give it to birds and collect PEARL
Go down 2 times, 1 left and again down: collect SHOVEL and $10
Click fence and give pearl to pig...
Use shovel on the ground and collect a squirrel and the final $10
Go to the woman selling ICE CREAM and buy that...
Go right 1 time and give ice cream to girl on bench; she gives you a FLOWER
Go to the old lady near well and give her the flower; she gives you NUTS
Select squirrel and feed him the nuts...
Now you can use the squirrel on the dragon (all the way upper right) and find TREASURE!!
what a bad game ..just keep clicking & clicking ..people & things are keep disappearing ..old woman not taking my flower ......cutest part is only that the birds keep playing with gun .......
finally out ..& that is not a happy but rather deppressing end to give dragon a squirrel .......
If there is anyone still here - thank you all for your help. I found this the most frustrating game I have ever played.
It can't be helped I suppose; this escape relies on clues gained from Japanese proverbs. Whenever you're stuck, you can get some hints from the village elder by clicking the second (longer) text box. Below is the list of the proverbs:
- 猿も木から落ちる Even monkeys fall from trees.
- 河童の川流れ Kappa flowing down the river. English equivalent: Anyone can make a mistake. Kappa (the frog creature) is supposed to be a good swimmer, but can lose to the river current sometimes according to the proverb. Kappa is said to have a craze for cucumbers.
- 馬の耳に念仏 Preaching to a horse ear. English equivalent: A nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse.
- ハトに豆鉄砲 Shooting peas at a dove. English equivalent: Like a duck in thunder. Well, guess the doves in the game is more like happy than surprised though.
- 豚に真珠 Casting pearls before swine.
- 豚もおだてりゃ木に登る Even a pig can climb tree when praised/buttered. Not sure if this one has an English equivalent.
- 花より男子 This one should have been 花より団子, which means dumplings rather than flowers. English equivalent: Pudding before praise.
- イタチの最後っ屁 The weasel's last fart. English equivalent: A parting shot.
@ raasti: I think you didn't kill the sqirrel, but you killed the dragen with the squirrel's fart...
Shunko Kuda, you're about to become invaluable on here! There were so many ppl here before who can delve into this Jap stuff but most of them are gone or will only reappear once in a blue moon!

I've done everything as above (found out myself by trial and error) but now stuck with icecream. As I have red above, I must give the girl the ice cream to get her flower. But SHE WON'T TAKE IT!!! Quess she's not into ice cream any more... I must have a conversation with her first, but don't know what it says. HELP
