suddenly i run out of oil for my lantern and game was over???
it does say that it's only a taste of what the full game will be like!
The poor graphics really detract from what otherwise would be a reasonably intriguing start. I'll probably pass on the next installment.
TooCule, it's a pixel game. Complaining about graphics is rather useless here - it was their purpose to make a game that looks like this.

October 12, 1891. I'm in my cozy study, the fire is on, a letter just arrived ... my old university friend Anthony ... asking for help.
I'm that kind of guy that just steps on a train to Sussex and starts looking.
When I find the house, I notice the door is open, a letter on the floor ... who's Anna ...
Well, now that I'm here, I'll take off my my coat and hat.
The next room is dark, but an oil lamp is on.
Is that blood on the wall?
And into the next room ... what is written there?
The lantern is out ! No more oil.
The clock is still ticking ...
Holding my breath ... hurry .. please ... where is Anthony ?
