You need to follow the order of "NEWS" (北東西南) too.

Ah! That explains why "834" didn't work for me until after I'd entered the UDRR buttons!
I was trying to use NEWS for those buttons without success until I read your hints!

The 'N' on the wall does NOT mean "this is north".
