Hi folks, just going in to join you.
Stuck too. Opened the vent and nothing is there. Nowhere to use A=5 clue. Opened other boxes. Still have sneaky coin, glass and screw driver.

got sd, sneaky coin, green gem, lighter, black key, glass.. and I think thats it.

use A=5 hint on red book. red gem now
Nothing in vent that I've seen. Silver key behind file cabinet.
Bubble room - there is a safe behind the cabinet. It's a bit tricky to get it to move... I think I clicked it somewhere near the bottom.
Touching all bubbles open the safe
There's only an item in one of the vent, which is behind a potted plant.
There is nothing in the vent where exit door is

Btw, candles don't do anything. You can light them up using the matches before you light the fireplace, but that's about it :)
Removed vent but can't see anything inside.
Nothing in vent after unscrewing it, and if you go back out and then click on the vent again, it shows it as screwed again. Bug?

POP! You have to click near the base of the healthy plant - on the pot, not on the plant.

Try of left to right, i think that worked for me
Turns out green gem is in the brown cabinet, the key for which comes from lighting the candles & fireplace. Setting all gems into their respective slots yields gold key for exit door. Out now.
Watering the plant gives blue gem,

Not one of my favourite SD offerings, but still good! 4 stars rather than 5 because there was too much pixel-hunting involved with the vents and safes (and because I got duped by the red herring vent near the exit door xD)

Kev - A does not equal 1, it equals 5. So, A=5, B=6, C=7, D=8, etc. Then substitute the JEB letters for numbers.
I'm not sure how to use the clue A=5.

How is it that I can't get water from the faucet? I can usually manage that in real life

WALKTHROUGH:
Scene1:
Nothing to do there...
Scene 2:
Notice the small bubbles on the screen.
Click them all from left to right.
Click the bottom of the cabinet to reveal a secret hole to get a SILVER key.
Click the chair on the left and click the blue button on the 'box-shape' to reveal a hint -> A=5
Scene 3:
Click the toilet roll to get a SNEAKY COIN!
Note the colours of circles on the wall.
Note faulty tap.
Scene 4:
Click the red book on the shelf, note the word 'JEB' and decipher it using the hint A=5. you will get a RED GEM.

Scene 5:
Click the plant on the left at the bottom to reveal a screwed crate.
Note colour code case, Use the colours on the wall back in Scene 3. From smallest to biggest circle. You will get a GLASS.

Scene 6:
Use SILVER key on the locked cabinet, to get a WRENCH.
Note the position of the stools and use it back in scene 4. You will get a SCREWDRIVER.

Use WRENCH back to the 3rd scene on the faulty tap and use the GLASS to collect the water.
Use SCREWDRIVER on the screwed crate back in scene 5 to get a LIGHTER.
Scene 7:
Use GLASS filled with water on the dried plant to get a BLUE GEM.
Use the LIGHTER to light firewood to get a BLACK key. [don't bother with the candles, you will not get anything.]
Use BLACK key on the locked cabinet in Scene 5, to get a GREEN GEM.
Go back to scene 4 and click the orange book on the shelf to reveal a red button.
Click the button to make the picture on the wall move to reveal a safe.
click the safe and put the THREE GEMS accordingly.
Get the GOLD key and go to Scene 1 and use the GOLD key on the exit door.
Tadaa~YOU ARE OUT!
