Isn't 9x 7 63? And isn't half of that 31.5?. I'm obviously missing something here - a brain probably.
Oh I see - input the first answer, the go back for another question.
Second question - times first.
Yeah! I'm out with a new brain!
Either the rules for math have changed since I was in high school, or I never really learned them.
Can someone please explain the rule to follow for
3+9/3-5+4/2
?
Peggy - yes, that one stumped me for a bit too. Try 9/3 first, then add the 3, then -5, then plus the result of 4/2. (At least, I THINK that was it!)
TY Clodagh. I swear I tried that and it didn't work.
It worked this time though.
Yes, that was it. With the next one, divide first.
I can't believe I was stumped on such simple math.
No problems with the rest. Out.
Thanks for the help, Clodagh.
Glad to help Peggy!
too much easy a baby could solve the math
multiply and divide always take precedence over + and -
Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally
Parentheses first, then Exponents, then Multiplication/Division, and then Addition/Subtraction. If they are on equal level (e.g. addition and addition or addition and subtraction) then the order doesn't matter.
