Ghastly Asylum Escape is another point and click escape game created by Selfdefiant for Melting-Mindz. After several friends came up missing after visiting the Ghastly Asylum, you decided to go and investigate it on your own. Shortly after you entered the asylum, you fell through a weak spot in the floor. After waking up you realize you might be in deeper than you thought. Good luck and have fun!

Absolutely fabulous game SD! Took all afternoon and needed to find some hints here but finally made it out. The only real problems were finding the 4 digit code on the music sheet. It was so tiny I completely missed it, and the chess pieces were very tricky but I don't play chess lol.

It's obvious you put allot of work into this one, and it is appreciated!

Phenomenal game - thanks for help with the ruby and using the SD on the piano key!!! Absolutely loved this one (p.s. Have missed you s-t)

Where is the book?

David - from Hotz earlier: seb, you will get the book by giving the woman the bracelet with 3 opals..

Search: Ctrl F brings up search box in lower left. Type what you are looking for, i.e. book. Use Up and Down arrows to take you to all posts with the word "book"

Creepy disappearing face in the right window in Z. Nice touch. This game was huge and more like the old SD we love. I always liked when you changed the orbs to auto collect. The clicking was too much for those of us with disabilities. Thanks SD.

There is an orb in Ai above the bottles centered that can not be taken

Finally finished. Lots of creepy faces and little tricks thrown in. I iked the mixed up months on the paper. I didn't catch it at first lol. This was a GREAT game.

is there a written walkthrough please...I don't like the video ones as they make it too easy. Thx

I see you can push the N E S W directions on the MAP, but I do not know how to obtain the sapphire. Where is the clue for the order to push the letters?

WALKTHROUGH

I don't know how many Asylum games SD has done, but this is surely one of the very best. Use this walkthrough only if you're pressed for time, or totally frustrated! It is wonderful to be lost and confused in such a place - as long as it's safely in cyberspace, that is...

First task is to get an orb jar so we can collect enough orbs to buy a map.
Starting room: flip lever on left; note stuck valve. Go right.
Next room: move some trash in the lower center to find the PEARL.
R to dark hallway, up to dark staircase. To your L is where you go shopping.
Up to hallway w/ water bottle. L to cafeteria; take KNIFE from tray.
Need green key to go up; to the R is a fetid bathtub w/ a rusty door...?
L, down, R. Use knife on wheelchair for GREEN KEY. Note clipboard w/ 3 clues: order for gems, values for colored dials, and (on back) a 6-digit number.
L, up twice, use key. Flip lever. Need silver key on L.
Go up, click hallway on right to see ghost girl who needs mirror. (Can a ghost see itself in a mirror?)
Continue up, to 'no escape' hallway. Go L, flip lever. R and up to the catacombs. L to the ovens. Look in the open one and move some dirt to collect the PERIDOT.
R, need purple key to go up, so go down, R, collect CROWBAR. While here, flip the lever and note the place where you'll need a hammer.
L, down, down, R, use crowbar. For the pipes, click the upper L and R until connections are flush. Do the same with the lower middle, then the curved joints so they point up and towards the valve. Finally, click the upper middle once. Get WRENCH.
L, down, down, L, L (the first room). Use wrench for ORB JAR.

Now go around to all the rooms again, collect all the orbs you can, then visit the store (you should have 75) and buy LANTERN, BRACELET and MAP.

1st room: 4 orbs
next room: 4 orbs
dark hallway: 6 orbs
dark staircase: 4 orbs
water-bottle hallway: 6 orbs
cafeteria: 5 orbs
hallway w/ spiders: 4 orbs
silver key door: 4 orbs
ghost-girl halway: 4 orbs
no-escape hallway: 4 orbs
have-a-seat room: 4 orbs
catacombs hallway: 4 orbs
ovens: 2 orbs
dark landing: 6 orbs
crowbar room: 2 orbs
room w/ barrel of acid: 4 orbs
nasty bathtub room: 4 orbs
clipboard room: 4 orbs
No odd numbers! How odd!
I probably missed some, but we have enough now.

End of Part 1.

WALKTHROUGH Part 2

Your new bracelet was supposed to have a garnet in it, but just try to get your money back! Anyway, don't worry, we'll find the garnet, and we need the bracelet for something else.
Use lantern in C to find JADE #1; put it in the bracelet.
(as was pointed out above, you now can leave the lantern on as you go from room to room.)
Use lantern in the oven again to get SILVER KEY. Use it in O.
When the door opens, step back and look at the floor...there's the SCREWDRIVER.
Now that you're in a new room, don't forget to collect orbs! I won't note them all, but you need 75 more...
Meet the ghost-lady who wants her jade bracelet. You need to find 2 more.
In V, a box that needs 4 numbers.
In U, a lever and an organ (even though everyone called it a piano! I'm surprised SD didn't call it a banjo)
Click keys to see that one is stuck. Use SD on it for GOLD KEY.
Click on music to see 2 clues: add Beethoven's dates for 4-digit box next door. Also use directions clue on map, get SAPPHIRE.
Open box for CITRINE.

Use gold key in AE; grab that HAMMER!
Go to AL, find OPAL in bucket.
Door in AP is locked; levers turn the lights green. We need to find a few more.
In T, another lever, and a creepy place to put your gemstones.
Use lantern in N for PURPLE KEY.
Lever in D.
Use knife in E for JADE #2.
Find RUBBER GLOVE on the floor in R.
Lever in Z; note chess clue on bed (write it down!) The bottom 2 are knights, above them the bishop (?) I think, then kings.
Go to Y, use hammer for BLUE KEY. Use it in I to get to J. Enter 6-digit number from H for EMERALD.
Use purple key in AK; note candles in AR; find MIRROR in AS.
Lantern doesn't help with the black mist in AT.
Go to X, give ghost-girl her mirror. Get LIGHTER, return to AR.
Trial and error to light candles - my sequence was 4-1-5-2-3. Get AMETHYST.
I forgot to mention the lever in P. That's the last one; door in AP is now open. Enter dials clue from H for RED KEY.
Now you should have 75 orbs, more or less. Go to F and get your CRYSTAL. Now you can fly around by clicking on the map. Whew!

End part 2.

WALKTHROUGH Part 3

Go to Q, use glove to get TOPAZ.
Go to AA to use red key. In AB is the chess puzzle. Set the correct pieces between the arrows, then click the center. Get JADE #3.
Go to W to give ghost-lady her bracelet. Get BOOK.
Read book, enter cat's name on last page for BLACK KEY. Go to AG to use it.
In AM, place book on shelf for GARNET. So the bracelet got it for you after all.
The RUBY is behind a bottle of poison in AI.

Almost there! Use lantern in AQ for AQUAMARINE.
Funny, the diamond was one of the first things I found on my first play-through. Then I forgot about it. Go to AE and shake the chandelier for the DIAMOND.
Now you'll really need your crystal, unless you already know the order of the birthstones. Clue is in H; gems go in T. Garnet (January) goes in the upper right corner, the rest clockwise. Get MAGIC WAND.
Use wand to dispel the black mist and climb on out!
