I can't find the spot for the ladder. see a scroll up high but ladder won't work and stick I have won't work on it either.

Down stairs now. used one battery to burn lock open.
put other 2 batteries and wick in hole in wall but torch won't light it?
...you need to plug the hole before you can light it
cant find where to use numbers from lily pad
or where to use the club
..it's not a club, it's a paddle and now I can pick up the lily pad :)

how to open manhole?
wick? I have no clues for any of the boxes. I have 2 number boxes still to do, the number of w/lillies is not a clue. No idea what to do. Have ladder, bung, 3 batteries (which I can't separate), a long stick and a lighted torch
Thought OIL clue was no clue but no joy.
Any help would be appreciated

And to save anyone else the effort - it's not possible to brute force the number puzzles!
OK knife comes from box in first room but you need to use ladder - I had put it in the correct place 2 or three times and it never stayed - so it's a bit buggy. See comments above for where to place it and keep trying.

Did you figure out how to get scroll down from roof?
Use oil clue downstairs (after blowing open the manhole with 1 battery and fire!
Thanks LMO - I did the net, the scroll and the OIL - stuck at moment with crab/cat/croc clue - not working for animal box or final number box. Will have to go back to walkthru which is always a disappointment to me.
Well I have done what the walkthru showed already - several times. So again, very buggy. I'm going to quit and mark this as a 1star for all its bugginess.
how to get the scroll?
Crab-cat-croc puzzle clue helped with nothing. finally just click-spelled on each and it opened. ie 4 clicks for crab...
lost my way a bit with this one, but finally realised id missed an item to begin with, moved swiftly after this.
