The 2-3-4 grid hint comes after turning the birds. It basically says...

˙ǝuolɐ suɯnloɔ 3 ǝɥʇ ƃuıʌɐǝl 'suɯnloɔ 4 puɐ 2 llɐ uo uɹnʇ

smokehalo, did you see the clue with the yellow 2 and 4 and the non-colored 3? (from doing the left and right birds). That was the clue for the grid. Color all the columns with 2 or 4 grid items yellow, and leave the ones with 3 items blank.
