The "square" in the grid is actually 4 arrows showing direction of north from where you are on the grid. ie: at the faded spot north is up - move up , same for next 2 moves, but then north is sideways, so move sideways, etc.

feline, I loved your walkthroughs! You know what I hate? The walkthroughs that give the code without any explanation as to WHY it's the code. Your walkthrough for that game explained things. I always appreciate that. The only reason to bother reading one is because you're stumped. And finding the answer without knowing WHY it's the answer still leaves you stumped.

ReplyDeleteokay feline, I just went back and read that thread. Last night I played that game after you had all left, and the ONLY way I got out was your walkthrough. I'm grateful that you wrote it.
ReplyDeleteSo now I have to point out something... I love these escape games, but it can get tedious reading through hundreds of comments to find the answer you need. That's when you try to go straight to a walkthrough, just to get past the hurdle. At that point you're already frustrated. Some people get more frustrated by having to hunt for the answers (after they've been hunting for screwdrivers!) And I also appreciate the short, succinct walkthroughs.
But some of us like the ability to discuss the games, that's why we post here. Sometimes the more detailed, more involved walkthroughs (like the one you wrote) make me appreciate the game even more. I enjoyed your commentary about it. Don't sweat it if some don't. And it's not your fault that poster quit the game. They quit because they weren't enjoying it even BEFORE they read your walkthrough.
So back to this game, I'm stumped!!! I know the answer was already posted, but I can't move forward until I know WHY it's the code. I was so proud of myself because I figured everything out up to this point, but I have NO idea what to do for this last code. Any patient person willing to baby-step me out of how they figured the North, South East code??? (I'll love you forever! promise!)

Then you turn right, because when you get to that small tilted square, the North is the full circle.

ReplyDeleteso still looking at the diagram, you go up (N) 3 spaces, and then on that row, to the right is another arrow, so now right is N. Go 2 spaces in that direction, then below you is another arrow, so now down is N. Go 1 space in that direction, and there's another arrow to the left. So now left is N, and you need to go South, so go right one space. You're still under that arrow (in the green circle row, blue square column), so go up one space to move East. But then you go up one more space and I don't know how that's South.

I passed on the key escape (just like I had to ditch paradoxon) because the codes made no sense to me. Sometimes I think developers try to stump us by getting more and more obscure clues, and that just ruins it for me.

I realize everyone's gone, but I have to do this for future readers. I'm always late for games, and I have to hope that my questions have already been answered, since there's no one left to help. So now that I'm here, I have to figure this out for people like me who come back later and get stumped.

the green circle row has an arrow pointing left, so if you land on that row North is left
the yellow square column has an arrow pointing up, so if you land on that column North is up
the green square column has an arrow pointing down, so if you land on that column North is down
(I'm guessing at this)
But that still leaves the other rows/columns. So are we to assume that starting from the white circle, North is up, but coming to the grey circle, North is left?

@Feline, the trick is NOT to follow the grid, it is to drraw nine small segment of lines that are going a bit to the right 6 times then radical change to create an opposite "curve" with the remaining 3 segments

ReplyDeleteThe little I think to understand is that this grid is the one we open with screwdriver. I also think to understand that the square in the grid is in fact 4 arrows that indicate cardinal. Apparently we have to follow the way baginning at the faded spot.

ReplyDeleteSorry no... but I could try in my poor english, with my poor brain. Note that it is not a walkthrough and I prefer to give only some clues for pleasure of game..(but if you are stuck after reading those clues you could of course always ask for more).
There is an invisible screwdriver in your inventory
Click it and use it on panel above the crack.
The door opens and you can see four square..
Compare the square of code to the grid...
such as for example the square containing both blue round and square corresponds the upper left square of the grid.
When you compare all the squares of code... transpose then to the other grid above drawers ... and click red button.
Of course you need a key for each drawer, but also a code like I said ... there is another code into the book..
Keys are...can't well remember..in the round hole in the wall.. in the squared hole above the table (for this one you need something you can find in one of drawer)
Battery you will need is in the round hole in the wall too, you'll find a "real" screwdriver and tape (tape in squared hole under round hole). Combine screwdriver and tape to catch battery...
Hope those little clues help.
For the last code we are stuck till now.. but in comments you can find the solution.. I just want to understand how someone find this last code..

Honestly, to think that your walkthrough was responsible for their quitting the game? Puh-leeze. Perhaps they need a reality check. ReplyDelete- First thing I see is an IV stand? And a dotted wall? Maybe the wall is cushioned? Am I in a mental hospital or something? Ahhh! I’m crazy. Lol! So let’s start clicking! Uh! I got a yellow something. I wonder what this is… Let’s check it, shall we? The “about item” button in this game is that pretty blue eye on bottom right (that turns creepily red when you roll your mouse on it). Lol, I got the power! “I got the power, I got the power…”, u-hu!
- There are a lot of holes in these walls… Bottom right one is too dark and I can’t reach top right one, but in the round left hole there is something shiny! Well, not very shiny, but useful nonetheless. Notice there seems to be something stuck in the end of this hole. Besides us, of course… OK, try peeking in bottom left hole now and see what you can find. It’s a…tape.
- Turning left, sailors! Oh, yes, I may be crazy, but I still use a glass to drink stuff. How polite! Pick the glass up and take a look at that book. On the last page there are colourful things and below them a round shape. Hummm… Very similar to the head of my key, isn’t it? OK, so let’s find a place to use my key and this colourful hint! Turn left.
- Ahhh! Three drawers! I only have 1 key! You can use your key now or later, it doesn’t make any difference, but I must tell you the drawer will not open up yet. The drawers only open when you use the proper key AND the colour hint, so let’s figure out the hint, shall we? Turn left (again, yes).
- Cool, a colour grid! Hummm… I see circle shapes and square shapes… You must find out what buttons to turn red on that panel above drawers by crossing the squares and circles on this colour panel to open each drawer. You already have the hint for the round key drawer (from book), so try finding out the code, will you? Then go to panel above drawers and turn the appropriate buttons red, then click the red round button on bottom right of panel to activate the code. (Left bottom white square button clears the board.)
- If you haven’t figured out the code, here’s how it should look on panel above drawers (X is what buttons you must turn red):

- Now you can see the light above left drawer is blue. Great, that means you can open it! Use your round key, if you haven’t yet, and open the drawer to pick up a… stool? Yeap, a stool. Cool! Now I can change the light bulb! No…. That’s not the purpose of your new stool.
- You may have read about a ghost screwdriver in previous posts. Yes, there is one. But don’t you prefer the real thing? A real screwdriver, that you can hug and kiss? So… Why don’t you use your stool on that “counter” behind the IV stand? Great! Now we can reach that top right hole! And in it, just waiting to be hugged and kissed and loved, is our screwdriver!
- So where to use our screwdriver? Hummm… Haven’t you noticed the screw on that grid coloured board? Yes, there it is. So, let’s unscrew it, shall we? Oh! I see all blue and yellow! At least I have another key! Hoo-ray! Now notice this new code has a square shape under it, just like your new key. Yes, sailor, that means this code is for opening the drawer for your brand new square key! OK, if you haven’t figured out the code, here it is:

- So now we can open the right drawer. Cool! A torch! Or “flashlight”, if you prefer. Cool, now I’ll take a peep in that dark hole! *Click, click.* Dang! It doesn’t work! I need a new battery! Hummm… I remember there was something stuck (besides ourselves) in that left round hole in the wall. I wonder if… But how do we take that out? Maybe we need something long and sticky?
- Add your tape to your beloved screwdriver and get your battery! Nooo! My screwdriver! I can’t use it anymore… Sniff, sniff… Well, at least now I can shed some light in that dark place! Put your battery in the torch/flashlight and let’s see what we find there! Great! My last key and a paper, that’s most likely the hint for its code. Take a look on the paper, then. Ahhhhh!!! What the heck?!
- So… This is the code for opening the last drawer. This is also the code I said I don’t quite understand, but it is understandable. Some more powerful brains did it. Not mine, of course… Anyway, the hint is the symbol under North. You can try searching for it, but for those poor souls that are really not gifted with a powerful brain, like myself, here’s what your board above drawers should look like to open last drawer:

@feline, i love your walkthroughs. A "real screwdriver that we can hug and kiss"? Anyone other than a real escape junkie would be so confused by that, but we junkies love it! btw, I think it may be time for us to form a "walkthrough poster mutual admiration society" so everybody else can go on and play these games. If I knew how to create a blog I would do it.
