i have these equations:
R = N
R+Y = N+3
R+B = N+6
N= zero (or circle?)
B = 6 and Y = 3 (blue is worth 6 and yellow worth 3)
I can only make Red, purple and orange circles, 1, 2 or 3.
if n = 0 and red = 0 then
purple is worth 6
orange worth 9
red worth 0
and then you can't solve the puzzle.
so, what is the value of N and R in the equations...
oh i thought orange = 3

grid, based on the idea of middle 2 balls, left upper corner 2 balls, lower middle 1 ball:

But, in both options (left or right numbers) 1 diagonal is incorrect...

ReplyDeleteElevator: red = 1, so 1 red bubble is 1, 2 bubbles = 2, 3 bubbles =3. Orange (R+Y)= 4 (1 orange bubble), 5 and 6. And purple is 7, 8 and 9. Google for 'magic square' and you'll find the correct numbers.

There are so many different ways to read that clue. n=0, could be orange, it could be the number of circles on the drawing, i.e. 5

ReplyDeleteI tried to figure out the code with your hints, but then I get a wrong solution.
I used Lo-Shu's maqical square with the sum of 15. He says 4, 9, 2 in the first row, so 4 = one orange circle, 9 = three purple circles and 2 = two red circles, based on:
red = 1, 2, 3
orange = 4, 5, 6
purple = 7, 8, 9
What did I do wrong?

I could only suggest looking at the image solution and try to deduce the values behind a single colored dot...

By deduction, one could have probably solved the puzzle as follows:
ReplyDelete1. It has to be a magic square with numbers from 1-9 that add up to 15 per row, column and diagonal
2. We know, that red = n = 1, so orange = 4 and purple = 7 (of the magic square)
3. Numbers 2 and 3 can only be red, because they are multiples of 1(=red), and 5, 6 (=orange) and 8,9 (=purple) are the results of the equations given.
4. We have the hint of the 2-2-1 distribution and places, so we have to find the suitable magic square that cricketer999 has shown above.

This elevator puzzle is easy if you forget the numbers and try to arrange all colors and all quantitys that in every row only one color and one quantity exists. ;)
