ReplyDeleteHint for the cups: the red cup is irrelevant.

ReplyDeleteCan't get books clue. help!
ReplyDeleteNo point in asking for help here. You will just be given a supposed clue that is even more obscure than the original riddle.
ReplyDeleteis there anybody here who could tell us all about the 4-buttons code?
ReplyDeleteIt seems that nobody wants to share the knowledge about the 4 buttons. Too bad...
ReplyDeleteFree beer to whoever posts the 4 buttons answer
ReplyDeleteStill working on 4 buttons - don't understand hints either...
ReplyDelete:-(
write down the numberS of books from each cube/shelf - there are two groups in each cubby, the first one is 8 and 1 - if you note the pairs for all, then you will have the #s 1-8 - press the boxes in order. 1, 8 | 4, 5 | 2, 7 | 3, 6
ReplyDeletemake sense?
Oh, thank god I am not the only one that did not get it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI had to go and came back...need the 4 button one and the hints just do not jive in my poor little deficient brain!!!LOLOL

ReplyDeletei have only 4 buttons :-(
ReplyDeleteHow to open 4-BUTTON safe according BOOK hint:
ReplyDelete(click right to open link in a new tab)
BOOKS
Each button counts as two numbers
ReplyDelete1&5 2&6 3&7 4&8
- there are 4 boxes = 4 buttons on safe
ReplyDelete(1-4 from left to righ)
- books from 1-8 give order, which box# to take
:-)
that was very very very complicated; thanks for the help!
ReplyDeleteSomeone suggested the book shelves are a hint for the 4 button puzzle. Specifically the books on the right side.
ReplyDeleteStarting on the left book shelf:
1st: 8 1
2nd: 5 4
3rd: 2 7
4th: 6 3
So according to the cryptic hint:
1st button click: 1
2nd button click: 4
3rd button click: 7
4th button click: 3
Does that work? NO!
What about the books on the right side?!?
if you number the buttons 1-4, left to right, then click this way:
ReplyDelete1st, 3rd, 4th, 2nd,
2nd, 4th, 3rd, 1st.
both sets of books tell the sequence in which to push buttons
ReplyDeleteso first shelf has 1 and 8 meaning that button is pushed first and eights
second shelf has 5 4 so that button is pushed 5th and 4th time
so button order is as follows, if buttons are numbered left to right from 1 to 4:
1 3 4 2 2 4 3 1
Ah, forgot to say: finally out!
ReplyDelete:-D
Tricky puzzles this time, esp. the book-4buttons one - but great fun anyway...!
Hi Premier: Thank you! My brain just could not see that.
ReplyDeleteDr. Lee and Premier: Thanks for the image AND the explanation. NOW I see it. :-)
ReplyDeletefor books is:

What a simply splendid game.. I totally loved it!!!
ReplyDeleteWhoo! Just needed Dr. Lee's hint to tell me I have to "mirror" the directions of the cup handles, and got the puzzle solved!
ReplyDeleteIf you want an easy way, think of a phone keypad
1-2-3
4-5-6
7-8-9
and the solution is...
S7POI5LE1RSP4OIL2ERS3POIL6ERS8POILE9R
(and didn't even require lazy me to draw a pic :P (except for my draft on good ol' paper with 9 hideously shaped circles))
